EXCELLENT SERVICE AT A BARE BONES HOTEL
Comfie, quiet, excellent service. However, for a bare bones kind of hotel, a little pricey. White Stains on the carpet, the bathroom was not swept. Again, I say EXCELLENT SERVICE.

Stylish but still getting the kinds worked out
The Brooklyn has a stylish, modern design and is one of the few decent options in this part of Brooklyn. The staff are friendly and do their best to be helpful. The room was attractive and the bed comfortable. Still, there are downsides. First, the location is on a busy and unattractive street, with a gas station and a homeless shelter on the corner. It didn't feel dangerous, but Atlantic is not a plus. Second, my shower would not get above lukewarm. The Engineer came up and explained that because I was on the 4th floor the water pipes that run overhead to the shower come in contact with the roof and get cold. This should eventually be fixed when they get the rooftop patio finished, but it was definitely frustrating to not be able to take a hot shower on a cold winter day. They did give me a discount at checkout, so that speaks to their staff's attempts to be helpful. Third, my room would not heat up above 67 degrees. Again the Engineer came up and hit a "VANE" button on the thermostat that I have never seen before and then changed a couple settings and got it to heat up. But when I came back to the room, hitting "VANE" didn't solve the problem. Fourth, the WIFI is slow, albeit free. Fifth, the morning Continental Breakfast is basically bagels and cold cereal, albeit free. All things considered, this may grow into a nice option when the rooftop patio is done, and as they work out the kinks. For right now, though, I'll look elsewhere next time.

Great stay... until the end.
My actual stay in the hotel room itself was good. I read other reviews about the hotel not offering a daily cleaning service, but our room was refreshed every single day we stayed there. At one point though, the shower turned off on my friend and the water pressure was always unpredictable. One odd thing was that we couldn't find the ice machine, so we went down to the front desk to ask about it and the woman working the front desk seemed very confused by the question, and even more confused about where the ice machine was at all. She told us to go back to our room and she'd call up with an update; fifteen minutes later she called to let us know that we can come down with our ice bucket again because the ice is in the kitchen. You'd think that's something the hotel would train their employees on... I also left my keys behind in my hotel room, and while the hotel had ample time to let me know I left my keys behind (we came back for our luggage since check-out was many hours before our flight home), they chose not to and it was a nightmare trying to get them back to Chicago. They didn't seem concerned or sympathetic about the situation at all. There was a serious lack in customer service.

Wonderful experience
Great place and great service. I loved the brick wall in our room—it really added that Brooklyn vibe to our stay. The room was big and beautiful (high ceiling too!) It was loud in the room from the subway and the hustle and bustle of the city, but that is to be expected in any big city. The location from the subway was great. It’s right around the corner and can get you into Manhattan in half an hour. People have reviews that the area seemed dangerous but I strongly disagree with that. We felt it was a nice safe area to stay at.
