Short Break
We stayed for 2 nights in May. The guest house itself is beautiful and immaculately clean, the room was furnished to a high standard and the bed was so comfortable and we slept really well. Breakfast was a 10 out of 10, with a good choice and of high quality. Our hosts, Suzanne and Glen are lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend this guest house and would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

Storrs Gate Cottage is a charming inn in a beautiful setting. Suzanne was a wonderful host, and we enjoyed chatting with her. The cottage is picturesque…just like you would expect in the land of Beatrix Potter. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, with a view of the lovely patio. Breakfast waa delicious. Definitely a great place to explore the Southern Lake District.

Excellent hosts but room too small for comfort
The breakfasts and hosts for local advice were excellent but the room was way too small for international travellers. I booked a room for my wife and I one up from standard which was called a "Luxury Double Room" for 5 nights at an increase of 53 pounds per night higher than our 5 night stay at Oakridge Lynch in the Cotswolds. Both places were booked through Hotels.com about 6 weeks before arrival. The room at the Cotswolds was clearly superior, either the Lakes District is far more expensive than Cotswolds or Storrs Gate House is over priced, I think the later is probably more true. On a 4 week UK/Europe stay we have 2 full size bags & 2 airline hand size bags. The 4 poster bed basically filled the whole room. We had 1 luggage rack for one case, the small triangular wardrobe just fitted in one small hand luggage bag on its end, than luckily there was enough room under the bed for the full size and other hand luggage bag. Otherwise would of have to have put these two cases on top of the bed. The bathroom was no better with sloping roof cutting off space on toilet side and a small quarter circle shower where by the end of the shower always stood in at least an inch of water. It drained in a couple of minutes but still you don't expect this in any priced accommodation. My advice for Lakes District trip is that the lower area is fun to visit but if you have a car there appears to be better value around not too far away Ambleside.
