We loved Newport ! So historic and the mansions are a must see. The Atwater was a perfect boutique hotel for our 2 day stay . The decor is beautiful and breakfast quite unique and delicious

Newport tour
Enjoyed our 2 night stay at the Attwater Hotel in Newport. All staff members were very helpful with information about great places to see and eat. The rooms are on the tiny side but everything was clean and well kept. Would have liked a second night table next to the bed and near an electrical outlet for my things. Breakfast was beyond interesting and delicious! Healthy and different food choices that I found very yummy. Parking is limited but we managed.

A gem in Newport.
The staff, the decor, the comfort, and the details were all superb at the Attwater. I was on a business trip, so my time was limited to enjoy Newport, but the hotel is just a short walk from restaurants, and downtown. It is flanked by museums, and it has free parking. The breakfast was delicious, the complimentary tea and coffee was appreciated, and the decor is fun and playful. The bed was comfortable, and the linens were quality. Best of all, the staff was attentive, interesting, and informative. I'll be back for business, and I'll be back at the Attwater.

Perfectly perfect
We had a really lovely stay at the Attwater. The decor was beautiful and the food was so delicious. The staff was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The bed was very comfortable and the room was just the right size for what we needed. They provided a preloaded iPad for us to use with very helpful local information. We loved our stay there and will definitely be back.

Eat the breakfast, skip the shower!
The Attwater is a nicely renovated old building (residence?) that's been revamped with a bright modern style. The staff was professional and efficient. The common areas are full of eclectic appeal, but our room wasn't nearly as attractive or comfortable as those pictured on the hotel website. Add to that frayed linens and a tiny dingy bathroom with horrible dim lighting and no shelves at all for laying out/accessing toiletries. At these prices, there's no excuse for not installing a decent light fixture and some narrow shelving. And in a shower this miniscule, a rainfall faucet is a terrible choice... forcing you to wet your hair at every use! The linens were nonetheless nice and the wine glasses were greatly appreciated. The high point and saving grace: the very best small plate free breakfast we had anywhere on the Cape (scones, lovely toast with ricotta and pear, kiwi and blueberry fruit cocktail, oatmeal with figs).
