Room was clean and a good size in general, but the bathroom was very cramped. Nice tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Staff were all very friendly, food was ‘pub grub’ and not the best fish and chips I have had, however the breakfast was excellent. We only stayed for one night whilst passing through, so it was a good place to rest our weary heads after a long day motorcycling in the rain.

We arrived slightly early but were told quite abruptly that it was a 3 o’clock check in . Having been shown to our room at 3pm it was on the basic side . We had booked a cosy double , it was painted blue , had no comfy chairs to sit on , nothing on the walls , pale curtains that failed to block out the light despite having a black out blind . There is no double or secondary glazing so you can hear the road noise . The dressing table had no mirror on it and when using the hairdryer the lead didn’t stretch to a mirror . The bathroom was dated , had a walk in shower , the woodwork needed repainting and the shower leaked onto the floor near the door . The bed was comfy and there were nice touches such as home made cookies and a coffee cafetière . It’s not a cheap pub with rooms , the evening meal was nice enough and service good ,breakfast was included in the price of the room . There was no check out , just told to leave the key on the bar , no one asked us if we’d enjoyed our stay .would we stay here again , probably not .
