Very good 8.0
It was the small touches that let it down. The bathroom tap was held in place with sealant, the floor in the bathroom was quite dirty, and the was only one sachet of coffee in the room sleeping 3 and no milk. The staff where all very friendly and helpful. I would stay again.

Good 6.0
Underwhelming - style over substance
Stayed with twin to celebrate our birthday on 5 November 2019, in room 211 "luxury double room". Arrived at 12:30 earlier than the 3:00 check-in but were quite prepared to leave our luggage until the room was ready. Cheekily mentioning - our birthday anticipation of a complimentary drink or dessert as experienced at the Hilton Canary Wharf. However, as fed back - the room lacks luxurious feel - faux bedside tables, no complimentary items like bottled water, dressing gown, slippers, rough bath towels, clean but dusty bathroom, no bath soap, bottled lotions, no tissues, no mini bar, fridge, no hot chocolate, biscuits etc. Room size is okay but no tub chairs or sofa. The bathroom holds a jacuzzi bath but is a little high. The 2 adjacent room doors bang heavily, to the extent you feel your door will open and it is at the front of the hotel so expect street noise which simmers to a hum from midnight to 7am. Hotel were unable to provide a corkscrew, as they don't serve corked wine. Additionally, the room didn't provide and basic paper information ie restaurant details, room service etc. So, we opted to dine out for both dinner and breakfast; rather than dine in the in-house Bastion Restaurant as were disappointed by the room and didn't want it to spoil our stay further. That said, overall, hotel reception and dining area are elegant, modern and stylish and we received a warm friendly welcome, it is just a shame these qualities weren't reflected in our room.

Poor 2.0
Lovely hotel but bad experience.
Me and my partner came for his birthday and was expecting a lovely stay as we had only heard good things. On the firefly evening we had planned to go to junkyard golf and the for some food (we had already paid for the golf). We then Had to wait 1 and a 1/2 hours to check in, meaning once we got in the room, got ready and travelled to junkyard golf we had missed the first session. The bath had clumped long hair balls in and around the plug as well as on the sides of the bath. The toilet handle wasn’t working properly. Floor board from bathroom into room broken and had a nail sticking up. Bedside table was broken.

Lovely night away
We had a lovely night’s stay at The Shankly Hotel for my husband’s birthday. Everyone was very polite and helpful and welcoming. However check in took slightly longer than I’ve ever experienced at a hotel before, there were very long queues to the door and the receptionists seemed a bit flustered. Also I wasn’t too sure about the shower, couldn’t understand why there was no shower curtain or screen, so this prevented me from fully enjoying the rain shower as I felt I had to turn it down. Apart from that the stay was excellent.
