Very nice place
Found this place as a last minute impulse trip to the lakes. Initial thoughts are always that the best places go early and when there are only a few places left, it tends to be either the worst or the more expensive. This place falls into the latter catgory although to be fair, the rooms are spacious and very clean. Check in was simple and the attention to detail from the lady owner (Csilla) who explained the property and showed us to our rooms was a really nice touch. Parking is extra and paid locally as a sort of 'resort tax' but again, to be fair, you would probably have to pay the same for public parking if you stay at one of the many guest houses where parking isn't available. Continental breakfast isncluded but we went out for a cooked breakfast nearby, so i can't comment on the food but the area set aside for breakfast looked as impeccably clean as the room was. If visiting Ambleside again, would definitely consider returning here.

Very good 8.0
Good location and breakfast, room a bit warm
The hotel is located in the centre of Amberside and has a car park (a necessity). The room was fairly comfortable, it was located on the sunny side of the hotel and although we left the curtains closed (as suggested by the staff) it was very warm and it was only June. The breakfast was continental and of a good quality and quantity.

good choice would stay again.
Excellent location within easy walking distance of town centre. Very large room. Excellent and ample parking which is important for Ambleside..... As a guest house, perhaps a small fridge in the room would be useful as no bar in the property.

Pretty good
Welcoming hosts. Nice rooms. Although at 120 a night they should be. Very thin walls and poor sound insulation meant any sound from other rooms was unfortunately heard. Great location. Continental breakfast.

Brilliant Brathay Lodge
The Brathay Lodge is run be very friendly, helpful and courteous people. It is beautifully clean, ideally situated for the busses and has ample car parking if needed. The continental breakfast is superb, so much fresh fruit to from, great selection of cereals and toppings, plenty of meats and cheeses to choose from, fresh bread, croissants, crumpets and waffles. We were made to feel very welcome and the £6 packed lunch beats ant meal deal by a million miles!
