Exceptional 10.0
Great location. Immaculate, high spec property.
Fabulous 2 bed/2 bath (under floor heating) apartment on the Main Street in Edinburgh. Well equipped kitchen with granite tops etc. Fabulous property. Would absolutely recommend. Paid for parking connected to Destiny Scotland. Only downside was when. I rang to see how long we were allowed to stay in the car park on final day, operator was very brusque and stated we had to leave by 1 pm. We paid £12 for alternative parking and then received an email about 3pm saying we could stay in the car park but we’d already moved ??? Simple lack of communication. Otherwise stay was fabulous!! Lots of bars, restaurants etc. Train station over the road! Edinburgh fringe festival was beginning. Walked up to the castle and found so much going on. Musicians, drama, magicians etc. Castle amazing- steeped in history!! Scottish guy in a kilt playing the bag pipes ! Can’t wait to visit again. Amazing atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend.

Good location, clean and comfortable but.......
Destiny Scotland Princes St had pluses and minuses for us. The location for first time visitors to Edinburgh was excellent and it was clean and comfortable. The minuses for us were, 1. We could not pull up in front of the apartment or anywhere nearby to unload the luggage. 2. When we finally got the bags inside the front door of the building there were two, quite steep, flights of stairs to our door and no elevator. 3. Once inside the apartment we discovered we were locked in, the door had stuck and despite calling the off site office they took over a half hour to arrive and let us out. 4. Princes St is so noisy we couldn't open either windows for fresh air. 5. On both nights of our stay we were awakened after midnight by loud shouting and yahooing from drunks in the street below despite the windows being closed This went on until around 4am so we didn't get much sleep. 6. Drunks were sleeping in the doorway of the building and there was a strong smell of urine around the area, 7. Lots of cigarette buts and rubbish from a nearby McDonalds around the front door of the building

Fantastic location poor guests
Ideal location with a poor entrance and poor behaviour from other guests. Arrival instructions seemed to miss out which apartment we should be entering, but a quick call resolved this. Main major drawback is the communal front door, where other occupants were leaving it to close itself. One morning we were treated to the contents of a mac Donald's strewn in the hall, with a side of urine in the corner, another morning we found beer cans strewn through hall. Main bathroom soap dispenser coming off wall, shower screen dripping onto floor, ensuite bathroom doorknob coming off. Outside front door a new mess would greet us every morning, and inconsiderate guests repeatedly slamming their front door as they went out for yet another cigarette on the steps, till 2 in the morning didn't help...but that's guests for you... Despite the small niggles we'd not hesitate to stay again.

Good 6.0
Really loud traffic noise.
The inside of the apartment is terrific. Bright with big windows, comfortable large bed, nice bathroom and very nice kitchen. The all day and night traffic noise is so incredibly loud we unfortunately would not stay in this unit again because of it. If there were AC or someway to get fresh air in it would help some but the place is stale and stuffy which forces you to open the front windows. The front entrance is also incredibly dirty. Most times coming and going we had to step around young people sitting on the grimy stoop smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol from morning on. It was obvious no one cleans the entrance given the fifty or so cigarette butts, sticky stains, trash and smell that has obviously been there a long while.

The apartment was furnished nicely and spotless. Fabulous views towards the cathedral & castle. Fantastic to have a washer/dryer too. Note there is no onsite parking but Destiny Scotland offered parking relatively close by for an additional fee. We stayed on a Friday night and there was a bit of noise from pedestrians as the bars closed in the early hours. But nothing you wouldn't expect in a busy city. Tesco Express is downstairs next door and plenty of restuarant options also. A lovely option if you want all the facilities of a full kitchen & laundry. Note that the stovetop is induction if you are packing your own espresso maker.
