The Glenburn Hotel
Rothsay Glenburn Hotel
We booked at short notice for a weekend break and had never been before at this hotel. It .had been approx.16 years since we last visited the Island. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival as to the location of the hotel and the stunning views over the Bute Bay to the Cowal peninsula. The hotel has undergone complete refurbishment and the rooms and public areas are extremely well decorated. The staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The only downside are the bar prices, but apart from that we had a great weekend stay. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk to the town which is very pleasant with lovely scenery. As the hotel is perched on a steep hill, we decided to get taxi back at night. The taxi fares were very reasonable with very friendly drivers. On the Saturday we took the Island Tour Bus which had only started that weekend. The driver called Paul, was very friendly and informative and we had a very pleasant trip. Overall we had a very enjoyable t weekend, and would recommend the hotel as a great place to stay.

Tired but pleasant hotel
The hotel has the reputation in Bute of being excellent, however, we found that it was getting a little tired and in need of refurbishment. Staff were pleasant and helpful, but parking is extremely limited. The hotel wifi was of a good standard and stable in our room.

Some of the staff were quite rude. When I asked if my porridge could be made with milk, he pointed at the milk jug!!
