One of the best Hotels we've used in a while.
We loved our stay at the Hyatt. Rooms were clean and comfortable. TV had a guide which is always nice. The location is right next to a drug store and some great restaurants. It's only a 10 min walk to the blue line and 8 min to the red line. What made this hotel shine was the staff. We were visiting DC for vacation. Everyone went out of their way to answer questions - and we had a lot of them! As good as the evening staff was the most impressive thing to us was the breakfast team. We visited DC on a heavy tourist season. The breakfast area was crazy every morning. The staff was constantly working had to ensure food was replenished and extra seats were available if needed. I was very impressed with the work they put in each morning. During our week-long stay there were multiple people working. All seemed to have a great attitude and work ethic, something rare these days. Also, the food was great which made the entire family happy. Hot cooked eggs, potatoes, sausage or bacon, plenty of fruit, yogurt, bread or bagels, cereal and more. Enough to make everyone happy. We truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Very good experience.

Poor 2.0
DO NOT STAY HERE, especially if you want to eat, wash, and/or if you have young children with you. I have stayed in Hyatts before (outside of Washington DC) and had a great time, and received great service. However, this hotel is AWFUL. So many issues with this hotel - 1. Be alert!! This hotel added fraudulent charges to our account. Lucky we were notified by American Express. 2. In addition, the breakfast area had nowhere to sit in the restaurant (we paid extra for the breakfast), so our 3 year old and 6 year old had to sit with food on their lap. This was both mornings. The food was poorly prepared, and some dishes empty. 3. The shower handle was broken when we tried to turn it on on Saturday morning, so we could not wash the first day of our trip because we had to leave to view the White House. 4. When we checked in late Friday night, we were told the restaurant was not serving food, so we had to find food outside the restaurant (very bad selection of restaurants in the area - especially with two young children who were hungry and tired). 5. Saturday evening we were told the restaurant had limited food available (eg, nothing fried, etc) 6. We had to park in a private parking garage separate from the hotel, and they still added valet parking charges (without our permission) 7. I paid for a room with a 'view', and the only view was of a gas station. 8. I raised all of this with reception each time the issue arose, and at checkout, and they acted with indifference

Nice hotel, poor parking provider
The hotel itself is quite nice and pretty convenient to the metro as well as being a short walk to Georgetown. Free breakfast is nice and the staff at the hotel desk very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel, if and this is the big if, you are not driving and parking at the hotel. The parking is extremely expensive and valet only. This isn't terribly outside the normal cost of D.C. hotels within the city which are insanely expensive at which to park. However, the parking provider service was simply unacceptable given the cost. They provide you a phone number to text when you want your car. You then enter a number and they are supposed to get your vehicle. This didn't happen. Instead 20 min later I got a message that "there was no attendant available" and to "try again in 10 min". It turns out that the parking service had one person doing both car retrieval as well as duty at the curb stand right when everyone was trying to check out. One poor woman ahead of us said she was missing a ticketed event because it took so long to retrieve her car. Our car took approximately 40 min to retrieve and there were only 3 in line ahead of us. So bottom line, if you are taking a cab or the metro stay with confidence. If you are driving I would choose another location.

Allow smoking in rooms
We were really disappointed with our stay, but I guess you get what you pay for. The rates were great and the ratings had been excellent so we booked into the Hyatt Georgetown. The location was helpful for going to a baby shower we were in town for and dinner and brunches with friends. Unfortunately though our check in experience was poor, we checked in just before 9pm Friday night and the woman working the front desk took about 5 minutes to reappear and when she did she had a huge stain down the front of her shirt. She mumbled through our check in and we have no clue what she actually told us. Luckily our room key holder had our room number, and the elevator identifies the floors which had the gym, pool and rooftop area. This was the least of our problem we later learned. Saturday night we returned to our room and it smelled like someone had just smoked a cigarette in there. It was late and disappated quickly so we did not complain. Sunday morning when we woke up it was 100x worse, and smelled like someone was smoking in our room again. We called the front desk now, who said they would send someone up. After 30 minutes we called again as it was still quite bad, and they were surprised no engineer had shown up. They could not give us an answer so we finally just decided to check out early. The smell of smoke never dissipated and the hotel is supposed to be smoke free. That is clearly not enforced. We were very unimpressed and will not be returning.

Excellent Hyatt
Fantastic first time in Washington and stay at any Hyatt but definitely won't be our last. I admit I was a little apprehensive since it was a mid budget hotel which can be hit or miss but the service was as good as any 5* we've stayed in. And it wasn't just one or two staff members, it was ALL of them! And breakfast was very good, and plentiful. There was a note in your room advising what times that the breakfast room could be busy and if you paid attention to that then you were fine. Rooms were plenty big enough, with fridges which were very welcoming due to temps in the 90's every day! No baths but I believe that's more and more common in newer US hotels. Just beware of the bar price in the hotel. Unless the lady made a mistake we were charged $16 for 2 small beers! Excellent Chinese restaurant almost next door and plenty of restaurants all within a 10 min walk. DuPont Circle is but one area easy to walk to with Irish bars, Italian restaurants, and my personal favourite Panera Bread! We didn't brave the metro till the last day but it was easy. Walk to DuPont and take one stop north to the Zoo. The White House and Smithsonian museums were why we went and they didn't disappoint.
