Cleanliness needs to be improved
If it's not because of the roof top public bath and the location, I probably wouldn't consider staying here again. The room is very small and we couldn't open both of our suitcases (we had two), but that's expected. The bed and pillows were very comfy though and it's good to have a big TV. Reception staff are polite and very helpful. The location is good. It's just a minute walk to Sugamo JR and metro station. The shopping street is lovely and you can find cheap stuff and restaurants (some open 24 hours) around. The only thing I'm absolutely disappointed is the cleanliness of the room. I noticed that the cleaners on my floor, if not all, are foreign workers. I'm not against foreign workers and I'm one in the country I'm living in, but they have to be well trained before they could start doing the job. Indeed, we expect a high Japanese standard when we are in Japan, but I think their service isn't up to the standard in any country. We put the eco sign on the door after the first night. They cleared the bins and changed the towels for us but they didn't clean or tidy up the room at all. It's fine maybe that is the rule. However, what I don't understand is that they left our used towels on the floor next to our bed and put our own blanket randomly on our luggage. Why?! In another hotel we stayed in the same trip, the cleaner folded and well put our blanket on our bed. The next day I thought the room had to be cleaned so I took off the eco sign but it wasn't cleaned! What a myth!

A small neat and clean room
The hotel was great and clean. The staff was helpful.. The room was quite small but I think this is norm in Japan. The services were very good for the price I paid especially considering the prices for hotel rooms in Tokyo.

Tiny rooms, clean new hotel.
The room was tiny, I have stayed in APA hotels before. Rooms vary in size and in Japan are usually not big. This however was just 2 steps up from a capsule. The room was as wide as the bed was, so 2m max. Between the bed and a small desk there was about 65cm. Then an 80cm wide hallway as long as the bathroom box to your door and that's it. Bathroom is compact like most Japanese hotels, but nice. I would not recommend staying here for more than a day or two. The sento on the 14th floor is nice but a week in such a tiny rooms make the walls come to attack you.
