Overall, it was a decent stay, however for a "Design Hotel", we weren't really that impressed. The view from our room (and we assume rooms like ours) all face inward to a 'dead' space that overlooked an internal courtyard area, that was closed off and had bits of trash from construction in it... the otherrooms also overlooked the same area, and could see into our rooms - so that meant that we had to keep our curtains closed and it was just a dark stay. There were no coffee machines, and the matress was a thin layer futon. It was fine, it just felt a bit odd. The bathroom was the nicest part of the room, and the access to the spa was the best part of it. The spa is quite small and is unisex; and whilst you get complimentary access (if you book a slot) it did seem quite crowded. In saying that, this hotel has been highly recommended by a lot of magazines, so I think it's intended to be one of the best in Helsinki and we still did enjoy our stay - it just wasn't at the same standard as the other "Design Hotels" we've been to.

We had an excellent stay at Hotel St. George. We stayed in a Serenity Studio room which was a good size and had a lovely bathroom with a rain shower and underfloor heating. We had breakfast included which had a good mix of food as well as spa access which we’d recommend. You book slots to use the spa which meant it was never too busy. Hotel was in a great location and it had everything we needed and more. We’d definitely stay again.

This hotel is NOT kid-friendly at all. I booked it specifically because the photos prominently feature the pool and Finnish sauna, and my child loves swimming. Only after making a non-refundable reservation was I informed that these facilities require advance reservations and are restricted to guests 16 years and older. This information should be impossible to miss. If the pool and Finnish sauna are prominently featured in the photos but are adults only, there should be a large, clear “ADULTS ONLY (16+)” notice displayed next to the photos and facility information, and clearly shown before payment. Hiding such an important restriction in the booking details is extremely misleading, especially for families. This completely changed our vacation. My family had been looking forward to using the pool and Finnish sauna, especially our child, who was excited to swim. Finding out that we couldn’t use them after arriving was incredibly disappointing and stressful. It cast a shadow over our entire 4-day trip and ruined one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. I booked through Hotels.com (Expedia), so I don’t know whether the hotel or booking platform is responsible. Either way, the lack of transparency cost me €1000 on a non-refundable reservation. Families with children should avoid this hotel if the pool and Finnish sauna are important to your stay. A clear “ADULTS ONLY (16+)” warning should be prominently displayed before booking so families can make an informed decision.
