The restaurant Chromium and athletic facilities are amazing. However, if you want to sleep, I cannot recommend this hotel. The room walls and hotel room doors are too thin. You can hear every conversation in the room next to you and down the hallways. Our room was on the 4th floor above the weight room, so we heard the constant thud of weights, too. In particular, we had the unfortunate experience of a loud party occurring in the room next door and up and down our hall from 9:00pm - 12:45am and again from 4:00am - 6:30am. After numerous calls and visits in person to the front desk between 10:30pm and 4:30am in hopes of a reprieve from the party noise, we were told our room would be discounted by half since we could not sleep. We were grateful that security came to the floor twice, but the situation/noise did not improve. Upon checkout at the Front Desk two days later with a different Front Desk staff member, I tried to confirm the discount promised by J---, but there was no mention of such discount nor explanation of noise complaints/incident in our hotel account file. Instead of the promised 1/2-off room rate, the staff member did not charge me for hotel fees that night. It was unfortunate that there was no consistency. I kindly suggest Hotel Midtown create a "Good Night's Rest" policy that some other hotels use -- an after 10:00pm quiet policy. Front Desk staff can inform and encourage guests upon check-in to respect that policy as a courtesy to other hotel guests.

    Good 6.0
Great during day- crazy loud at night!!
This place is amazing during the day- with or wo family. Pool, hot tub, spa, classes- all great. If you are here to relax and get a good nights sleep- this is not your place. In 4 nights we stayed in two different rooms. The first 2 nights on 4th floors- we had penthouse party above us going until midnight. Literally- my pillow vibrated from the base coming from upstairs. I got woken up everyday at 6 am by the free weights being dropped on the third floor. 6AM!! It sounded like someone was bowling above you. The second room on 5th floor was just as loud. At 830 pm it sounded like I was at a club in my room. The walls and bed vibrate as if I was in a club- I could literally sing along to the songs- that’s how loud and obnoxious this place was at night. So, it doesn’t matter what floor or room you are in. Be prepared to hear music and sounds all night until about midnight. If you are ok with that- then you are good. If you come with a family-beware- as I’m telling you- this place has zero soundproof in the floors/ walls. It’s so ridiculous!!! The restaurant food was absolutely amazing. If you don’t require any specific dietary needs you are good. If you have picky eaters and like to change things up, good luck, as “the chef” doesn’t like to change anything or substitute anything. The pool is awesome if you have kids, if you don’t you will be annoyed at the amount of kids that are in the pool. Rooms are great, but you can hear EVERYTHING!!! I MEAN EVERYTHING!!!!

    Unpleasant experience.
Overall, poor quality of service at the front desk. I wanted to book 2 rooms with open access/ connecting. I called the front desk prior to booking and inquired. They told me that I must book a double queen and a king. I did so accordingly. One day prior to check-in, I called again to ensure that my request for connecting rooms can be accommodated. I was told that they will put the request in. However, upon arriving at the hotel, I was told that due to low availability, my request could not be accommodated. We were all frustrated and disappointed because it was a family trip and having rooms that connect was very important to us. After my third request for connecting rooms, the receptionist agreed to accommodate us. It took about 3 hours for them to figure the issue out. It was quite frustrating because I have called several times prior to arrival to make sure that the request could be accommodated. Overall, it's a good hotel to stay but poor quality of guest services.

The hotel is very nice- we do not use everything, but it is very convenient to where our daughter lives and we plan to visit frequently over the next 3 years while she does her residency. Up until midnight and each morning starting at 5AM- the noise beneath us was so much banging, it woke us up. Sometimes our room would actually shake, and we were on the 5th floor!!! We inquired and were told that you are working on it- yes, it is from the weight room on the third floor, and you do have someone that is trying to "monitor" it. We were disappointed, as last time I stayed there in June when she first moved in, it was not an issue- but, is now!!! Food choices are very limiting- we were very glad we had a market closeby. We also tried to inquire about things- being new- but, no concierge. Otherwise, the place is clean- maybe you just want to be a gym and spa?

    Exceptional 10.0
The hotel was super modern and cool. The room was huge compared to other downtown Chicago hotels we have stayed at. Seemed a bit confusing at check in because there wasn't any signage differentiating between the fitness club and hotel check in. I did really enjoy the extra security of scanning our cards to get past the front desk. The employees were all pleasant. I did think that when the price on included the $25 resort fee and the taxes but when we checked out there was that $25 plus more taxes so the price listed was $168, receipt said $198 which was fine--seems typical/understandable for taxes, and a "resort" fee but then we actually ended up paying about $230 so that was sort of a bummer but overall I wasn't upset. We felt super secure and had parking included. It was a good stay and we would return!
