Great experience!
Hotel staff were great. Breakfast buffet and personal service from staff was excellent. Had evening meal that was excellent with the cook providing a very personal experience. Only issue is that gps does not bring you to the front of the hotel

Not Your Normal Obidos Hotel.....Better!
The Literary Man hotel sits just outside of the Obidos city walls - away from the throngs of tourists. Whether you are a book fan or not, this hotel is cozy and inviting, with thousands of books and unusual knick-knacks everywhere throughout the hotel. Don't bother looking for another restaurant in Obidos........The Literary Man on-site restaurant was very good and one of the employees is a mixologist, specializing in gin, which made for an interesting dining experience. They have just opened another restaurant on the main square of Obidos called The History Man, which also looked inviting. This hotel was one of our favorites on a 10-day trip to Portugal.

A bookworm's dream
If you're a book-o-phile, you'll love it here. If books aren't really your thing, you'll still enjoy the creativity in using them as decor. My fave spot is the restaurant/library (with live music some evenings), followed by the breakfast bar. My room and bathroom were spacious, I had a private patio, and I quite enjoyed my stay. If I need to overnight in the area again, I'd definitely return here.

A trendy old convent converted to an Arte House Hotel.Food, wine and staff could not be faulted.Obidos is a beautiful historic town within the city wall. The Literary Man is a great base to explore Obidos and the surrounding region. Would suggest at least a 3 to 5 night stay to get the best out your holiday.

Mixed feelings
The staff at this hotel was amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and included cooked to order eggs. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was excellent. The room did not live up to the rest of the hotel. It smelled musty and there was only a curtain for a bathroom door. This hotel is outside the city wall, so you can park for free nearby. Also we were not able to leave the hotel prior to 8 am because the door was locked. If you need to leave early, be sure to make arrangements when you check in. We also stayed at another hotel in the area and preferred that one for comfort and value.

Books galore close to the wall.
Unique hotel with books theme, close to walled city. Parking is a problem, bedding needs updating, breakfast is excellent, rooms are big but could usé updating.
