our room was the most wanted ocean front, we checked in at 1.30 in middle night, upon showering we realized there was almost no water coming out so we reach to the phone to call front desk and phone did not work, we couldn't walk all the way to front naked. next day they checked it and did not fix it and proceeded to rent it to other guest, towel situation is also crazy you have to sign in out towels or get charged crazy money for them.

Very Disappointing
Very disappointed with this hotel. On a positive note the location is perfect. It is very close to the beach and 5th avenue. On the negative - the service was terrible. There was one very unfriendly front desk lady in particular. My shower didn’t work properly, it took 2 days and 3 requests to get clean sheets, and the room phone didn’t work. The rooftop is nice - but they sell passes to the public so there isn’t room for hotel guests. The included breakfast gave me food poisoning (don’t drink the green juice). This resulted in a doctor consult and antibiotics - not to mention losing 2 days of vacation. This is my 8th vacation in Playa and definitely the most disappointing hotel. I’d recommend Fiesta - it’s 2 blocks away, cheaper, better service and more modern.

Great location for 5th ave, very cool, trendy hotel with brilliant roof top dj music - if you like house music round the pool this is the place for you, we loved it! We booked all inclusive and the drinks were good but the food options weren’t as good. The Mexican restaurant is a let down, the Italian is ok, they do really try, food is presented really well. Breakfast was good that was probably the best food and there is some nice sushi round the pool. Staff are hit and miss, some round the pool are really friendly and others just try to avoid you, there are lots of people who pay for a day pass to use the pool and party, I got the sense that if you are paying for your drinks the staff are more attentive than if you are an all inclusive customer which isn’t great. Reception staff look like they don’t really want to be there and aren’t that helpful. The restaurant staff were all really good and hard working.

Fantastic stay. Would like a little more variety at meal times from a vegetarian perspective, but they did great, there were lots of options (I’m just being picky). Angelo, Candido and the remainder of the staff were excellent. Our room was great. Music was a little loud for our liking on the roof- it was good music, but too loud for conversation. Would recommend the Reef to anyone. Location was great. Would love to see shuttles throughout the whole day, not just morning and evening. Would also like a bit more variety and consistency in the room fridge.

I loved how centrally located it is; 1 block away from Playa Mamitas , 1 block away from 5th Avenue which you will find a lot of restaurants, entertainment of every music genre and taste. There is shopping and for sure Starbucks, Our deluxe master suite was amazing spacious and comfortable and with balcony views. Bed was super comfortable and super clean. Rooftop pool was great too, loved the loved music playing and the all inclusive great food options throughout and awesome margaritas. I will definitely stay here again.

clean room , friendly personal, - good was not able make reservation to the SPA in the same day. there are not enough place of covered seats on the roof, when is a rainy weather. Missing staff to make reservation on the restaurant for Christmas eve. I was waited about hours when employeee returned from meeting.

This was our third time here, we used the 2 sister resorts, Coco beach and Playacar for the first time. Felt like 3 different vacations!!! We loved Playacar the walk from the lobby to the beach through the jungle was breathtaking. We are Expedia VIP members and were upgraded to an amazing suite during the last 4 nights of our stay (they were fully booked when we checked in). Their staff are amazing, from housekeeping, to maintenance (we had an issue with our safe) to the bartenders and wait staff. Liliana at the rooftop and Carlos in the lobby were standouts. Coming back in March!!! The only issue, no fault of Reef 28 was the construction going back to the airport!!! 2 1/4 hours which normally takes 50m Allow for the travel time as it may be months before the road construction is complete
