Perfect for a single guest.
Initially struck by the lovely atmosphere - informal but very friendly and helpful staff. Impressed by how clean everywhere was. Had single room 7 on second floor small but contained everything one needed - really quiet too. Only drawback toilet and shower were on floor below as facilities on second floor were out of order. There was no lift. I suggest this is stated on the website. This place is not suitable for anyone disabled. A pleasant cafe is downstairs where one can have breakfast at an extra cost.

Let down :(
Was really excited to stay at Browns as heard wonderful things. Booked a single room with shared bathroom. I’d never usually do that but I wanted the experience & I’d heard from a work colleague that it was fine. You get slippers & a gown which is a nice touch. The good points: Cute room with electric heater (would have been cold without it). Breakfast in the cafe (extra price) was nice. Bad points: Check in isn’t clear. There’s a blackboard outside on the SIDE of the wall telling you how to check in but I didn’t see that until when I was leaving! You check in with the cafe staff - which was weird. No information given just handed a key... One of my towels wasn’t clean & covered in makeup The throw on the bed was dirty I went out for a run in the morning came back housekeeping had been (no problem) and left the bedroom door pinned open... my work laptop, 2 iPhones & all my belongings clearly on display on the desk right in front of the door. I waited 5 mins & they never showed - I stayed in room 1 so every single other guest would have been able to walk past & see that!? So unimpressed. The shower in shared bathroom didn’t drain so there were other people’s hairs lying around. Overall it could have been great, but all these little things made it unpleasant & I wouldn’t stay again or recommend :( which is sad.

Simply Lovley..
Loved my stay at Browns. Where do I start? From the moment I l knocked on the door & was greeted, to being helped up the stairs with my suitcase. To the dressing gown & slippers & little notes about Silvies happenings. Cannot forget of course the lovely smells of freshly baked goods and excellent coffee! Browns is within walking distance to the town & a bus stop right outside.. Plus, convientley located next to fish & chip shop (recomend at least going here once just to talk to the friendly shop owner!) and a co-op. From a solo-female traveller, I would highly reccomend Browns for a stay while in Oxford.

Cozy, aesthetic, comfort in Oxford
I LOVED this spot. Super clean, cozy & really well decorated. Room was quite small, but plenty of room to work at the desk. Super tasty, wonderful cafe downstairs & a lovely cat :) Will definitely look to stay here again.

Simple and comfortable
I really enjoyed my stay, the location is very convenient for my office. The room was very comfortable, especially the bed. I will stay here again on my next trip, as the hotel is good value compared to others in the area.
