Exceptional 10.0
A great Bed & Breakfast hotel in London's West End
I loved our stay here. The couple that run the place, and other staff, were extremely nice and very helpful with any questions we had. Room was nice, clean and comfortable, but note there are no lifts, so you'll have to lug suitcases up manually. Rooms have TV with plenty of channels and free/fast WiFi is everywhere. The breakfast comprises any or all of: orange juice (good quality), tea/coffee, cereal, toast, and a cooked plate which varies day to day, but usually comprises two rashers of back-bacon, an egg and one other rotating item such as sausage, tomato, baked beans, etc. Very good - we really filled up for the day! There's also free tea/coffee anytime from a machine in the lounge, and cold drinks that can be purchased from another machine (50p/can). Access is easy, with a short walk to Goodge St. tube station, or a longer one to Russel Square station. And the British museum is just at the end of the road. There are also many shops and restaurants within easy walk, including a Tesco supermarket round the corner from Goodge St. station, with a big selection of cheap pre-made sandwiches and warm food items, drinks etc. They have meal deals of sandwich, snack (chips/crisps) and a drink for 3GBP. All the West End theaters are nearby as are the famous Oxford and Regent street shops. Note, if you go to a show, same day ~1/2 price tickets are available, online or at the booth in Leicester Square. We really enjoyed our stay and would heartily recommend it to anyone.

The best
The service at Ridgemount hotel is wonderful. You can feel when someone really care and like what they do. And that is what you find here. The owners are this sweet and very considerate couple. The staff are wonderful as well. And you can just feel that they like working there. We felt so welcome. The rooms are cleaned every day and the breakfast (which is included) is served at your table in the restaurant which allows you to go through your plans. The breakfast that is offered is different cereals, a hot beverage, juice, toast and "breakfast of the day". Which means a plate with either eggs, bacon, beans and so forth decided by the staff. Even though we where there for a week it wasn't an issue that we didn't have a bathroom and toilet in the room. The ones in the hallway where well maintained and always clean. There was also free access to computers, coffee and tee - and very cheap cold soft drinks in the living room. Which was nice when you came home and just craved a cold cola. And it is located in the center of London right next to a bus stop and close to the underground. What is more to say? It is not the most modern place you will find. But it is definitely the best we have tried. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and thank you to the sweet girls who work there. A tip: if you are used to bigger beds (ours at home is 180 cm) - book a room with two single beds and push them together.

Very good 8.0
Pleasant and helpful staff made stay very enjoyabl
The staff working at Ridgemount made it a great stay even though the shower was very small and cramped. The room is ok sized for europe, small as I expected it. The breakfast was good, at first we weren't expecting full service where everything is brought to you and ordered from a staff member but I found it pleasant as they offered a good selection. They had soy and rice milk for those lactose intolerant and they had gluten free cereal, bread, etc for my mom who's a celiac. They also had juice, regular milk, eggs and either ham/bacon each morning. Also coffee/tea, one morning we had tomatoes and one morning we had beans as a side to the eggs. They were also nice about letting us store our luggage even though it was just in the common room, but they assured us they have not lost a thing in all the years they'd be operating so we felt like they would keep a good watch over our stuff. The only unexpected thing is that there's no shampoo/conditioner/body wash at all. The only thing available was a bar of soap. We used shampoo/conditioner/body wash we brought with us.

Fair 4.0
I had booked this for my sister and I to stay after an event near Covent Garden. The location was good, easy to find and very central. We had a triple room, though only wanted a twin. There wS a double and single bed in a very small space. En suite was OK, but similarly cramped. No tea and coffee making in the room. There were onky two plug sockets in the whole room, one had the TV plugged in, the other the much needed fan, so nowhere to recharge phones. The room was stifling, and had sheets blankets and worn and tired bedspreads. The lounge had free tea and coffee machine. The tea was atrocious and coffee function just spilled out sugar... The description on website said there was a bar/lounge. There are a few sofas, computers and unusable coffee machine.. No bar in sight. Service at breakfast was great, lovely helpful staff. But, not self service. All seemed designed to give minimum produce. One glass of juice delivered, cereal poured, full English one piece of the offering on a relatively small plate. I've no idea why this hotel scores so highly on the website. If I'd paid a lot less I may have been less disappointed but at almost £160 for a night a bit steep even in London.

Poor 2.0
Room unsuitable for guests
Got stuck in a room right by reception, got woken by staff arriving 6am, including a little sill along by one of them, then again by guests banging around with kids 6:50 as though they were waiting to get into breakfast for 10 minutes, and again 7:30 by same group of guests leaving for the day having a chat outside my room for ages. Room not suitable as its mile too noisy, right by front door and also entrance to breakfast room. I know they were out of order but staff at no time did the receptionist ask them to consider anyone else, and when I complained about the room and the noise told everyone normally happy to be put there. Breakfast was basic but OK, no shampoo in the room and curtain was falling down at the end. Ended having an argument with the receptionist, I have been staying regularly around the area (20-30 times per year) for nearly 4 years and this is definitely one of the worst I have stayed in. Never to be repeated!!!!
