The Stag at Stow
It was our 42nd wedding anniversary. We decided to stay 1 night early and chose from hotels .com. We have now used them over 15 times here and abroad and found the rating very accurate. This was a lovely hotel, good rooms and right in the square. It was also good location to explore soundings. People here very friendly including village shops.

Just Great!
Great location in Stow-on-the-Wold. Great room, very comfortable and clean. Great food and friendly atmosphere.

Good for pets not so good for humans
Rooms appear to be a bolt on to the restaurant in the building next door. Checking is in the restaurant and there is a delay waiting to check in. The room we had was described as a suite but is one room with the bath in the bedroom and a en-suite shower and toilet - not a suite. There were a number of bulbs blown in the room and during our second day the bulb above the bath began to flicker continuously- we reported this to housekeeping who assured us someone would be over to change the bulb - no one came and as this was on the same switch as the main light we had to turn them all off and rely on wall lights. We were told the next day it was probably left because the restaurant was busy. Good hotel I’ve you have pets but if you don’t and you like hotel style service then I’d not recommend it. The coffee machine which was the only way to make hot drinks was in a poor hygiene condition and didn’t look like it had been cleaned for a while.

Short break
We stayed for a short break, in the lodge next door to the hotel. Room 10 was up on the second floor under the eves, super cosy with great views of the cotswold countryside. We ate on the first night here, the Sunday roast was a good fill followed by the amazing sticky toffee pudding.

Beautiful room - not so lovely bathroom
Beautiful and quirky bedroom in a fantastic location. Good restaurant/pub next door. Shame that the cleanliness of the bathroom and a few simple things, such as a very dirty/mouldy coffee machine, REALLY let it down.
