ASK FOR QUIET ROOM AT BACK OF BUILDING
RL Hotel looks quite out of place in what on first glance doesn't seem to be the friendliest of areas. Inside hotel I did feel very safe. First night here was a bit of a disaster. My room window backed onto the subway tracks (literally metres away) with trains going by all night, my other wall backed onto the elevator which beeps at every floor. The third wall backed onto another room where the guests were smoking pot and listening to TV so loudly I couldn't he's right every word. At 2am I went down to 'reception'* to request to move rooms and it was all getting too much. They were fully booked that night, however the staff were apologetic, offered ear plugs and went to the other guest room and asked them to turn off their TV. After getting over the nauseating smell of pot, I finally got some sleep. The following morning I wasn't moved to a room at the back on the building that was MUCH quieter. Make sure you request a room at the back of the building on arrival. *Reception is basically a computer at the back wall of the entrance. You might struggle to work out who actually works there and who doesn't. No uniform or identifying badge. If you hang around long enough someone asks if you're there to check in. Cafe/Bar downstairs is great. However, no vegan or vegetarian food options are available. Again, server was very apologetic. Some other cafes are available closeby. They will store your suitcase after check out for you. I would stay again for the price.

Love Love Love!
My stay was just for a night. The hotel was lovely, quaint and overall charming. The rustic decor and interior style is fantastic and the best part was all the plugs had USB plugs which is really cool and convenient. I loved my stay.

Solid stay, no complaints at all
Cute, clean, perfectly decent room. Was a fan of the charcoal and lavender bath soap. Free coffee downstairs. Nice associates at the front desk. Overall solid stay.

Clean, hip, and cost effective
I travel often and this will be my new “go-to” spot in the future. The staff is friendly and attentive and the overall vibe is great, considering the modest price. My only complaint is the walls are a bit thin. It would be fine if everybody spoke at a reasonable level, but I did have a neighbor who felts it necessary to yell, opposed to talk at a normal level. I made a complaint (it was 4AM) and he staff handled it within minutes. I’ll definitely be back!

Not there yet
The hotel is cute and right next to the M line in Bed-Stuy neighborhood of Brooklyn. The first night we stayed, there was a wild party going on above me. The hotel front desk staff were liars, rude, and extremely unhelpful. I had to get the engineer to go up with me and demand they stop, and the other guests did---around 12:30. The hotel wouldn't move me, or make the other guests be quiet. It was a nightmare. They moved me the next day, BUT THEY MOVED ME TO THE ROOM THAT WAS MAKING ALL THE NOISE. If those people left, then why did I have to move at all. Manager assured me things would improve and I got a free muffin and two cocktails.
