It could be good
Standard accommodation in a good location, that is clean and well maintained. However, it's worth considering the following points prior to booking; 1, The private parking is general on street parking. 2, I found the room cold; after a day on the fells the last thing you want is cold room. 3, Shower; when the shower unit is set on high the water was either tepid or so hot it was dangerous! Adjust the shower unit to medium and the water temperature was controllable but the pressure was not much more than a trickle. 4, Breakfast; day one I was the first in the breakfast room, the service was efficient and the food was just alright. Day two/last day I opted for a later breakfast and the breakfast room was full. I told Clare there was no free tables and was told to share a small table with a stranger. I politely told Claire I wouldn't share a table and was checking out. Clare stood staring at me as if I had grown two heads and said this was standard practice in the B&B industry! I wasn't here for an argument and I couldn't be bothered to tell her I spend a couple of nights a week in hotels, B&B's/guest houses I.E. circa a hundred nights a year and this is the first time I've be told to share a small table with a stranger for breakfast. I would not return here and therefore I do not recommend staying here.

Just short on the little points
We arrived shortly after 3pm and tried to ring the bell on the front door, but it wasn't working, so we had to ring the mobile phone number notified. This was Barrie's mobile number, & he informed us he was out but his wife, Clare, was in so he would phone her; soon after she opened the door & let us in. Clare showed us to our room - number 3, a front-facing double on the first floor. It is a little crowded with two armchairs & a small table & we had to turn the heating up as it was cold (only 8 degrees outside!), There is good storage space with a double wardrobe & chest of drawers. We did however find some rubbish in the top drawer of one of the bedside cabinets that had been left by the previous occupants & missed by housekeeping! The bathroom was just spacious enough with a decent-sized shower; however it was slightly bizarre that as a couple we were given just one complete set of towels, i.e. one hand-towel, one small bath towel, & one larger bath sheet to share - something that we've never experienced before! Toiletries provided were environmentally friendly & face wipes were also provided. The tea & coffee tray was well-stocked, which was a good point. Location was excellent, only 5 minutes walk into the centre of Keswick. Clare and Barrie were very friendly, & the breakfast was great - decent selection of fruit, yoghurt, cereal, & an excellent cooked breakfast! Parking is an issue, as you have to park in the street, which is narrow. The website is out of date!

Super friendly and helpful host
We appreciated many recommendations from our host, such as good restaurants, directions for walking trails, and detours worth taking on the way to our next destination. Everything was spot on!
