Barcelona Super Secret Casa del Sol
Outstanding boutique hotel with table service for cooked breakfast, ample continental options. All personnel were English speaking and tremendously helpful with suggestions. Room overlooked Plaza del Sol where afternoons were frequented by children with families, evenings by interesting adults including music and song. I was concerned about sleeping arrangements as we're used to CA King bed with plenty of space. To my joy, even "two twins" are actually prepared in king fashion with comfy sheets and THE BEST comforters. Bathroom was clean with amenities. Location was fabulous, five minute walk to Metro station. Buying multi-trip cards (10 or 20) made it easy for us to get around without cabs once we'd FOUND the station. Directions from hotel staff can be a bit iffy for this older woman. Traveling with my husband for our first trip to Spain, we were delayed in Zurich (change of planes) getting into Barcelona by Catalon protesters. Hotel refunded pre-paid first night when we couldn't get in, which they didn't need to do. I'll always return to Hotel La Casa del Sol when visiting Barcelona as it's not IN the middle of touristy sections yet easily accessible to La Familia Sagrada, Las Ramblas, the most amazing up-scale shopping district. Even meeting up with a day trip to Monserrat (don't miss it, I did the hiking tour) was an easy walk from Casa del Sol.

Excellent find in Gracia!
Lots of positives for this hotel on our first trip to Barcelona. A real double bed as opposed to two singles with double bed sheets for a start which allowed a good night’s sleep, really good air-con, daily cleaning of the room and fresh towels. Our room on the 1st floor looked onto a side street and with the hotel just off the square we thought it might be noisy at night but the windows were perfect in eliminating any noise. The hotel also appears to be wheelchair accessible with a gentle slope to the front door and lift to all floors and rooftop terrace, and the open shower in our room had rails and a folding seat. We ordered tapas and cocktails only (which were good) so cannot really comment on the food. In the square there are 4/5 cafes and a shop directly across from the hotel (with a large range of craft beers if that is your thing). Our 3 night stay was a great taster for the city and when we return in future for a longer stay we will absolutely look to book this hotel again.

Great Experience in Gracia
This boutique hotel is located on Plaza del Sol in the Gracia neighborhood. This is not a quiet or sheltered place, so if that is what you are looking for- this isn't it. It is located on a lively local plaza bustling every night with all kinds of local activity. My son really enjoyed the music and the fire spinning on a random Wednesday in October. The owner introduced himself and explained this hotel was his dream, and if he is able to locate customers like me, this will be a great success. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again- and once you go to Barcelona you pretty much have to go back again.

Nice hotel in a great neighborhood
My wife and I stayed here for a week in late November. It was the perfect location for us (on Plaza del Sol in Gracia), with lots of restaurants, cafes, and bars within walking distance. In fact, we mostly walked, but the metro was also nearby, allowing us to make a couple of day trips outside of the city (Montserrat and Girona) with no problem. The front desk was open 24 hours and the staff were pleasant and attentive. We do not speak Spanish, but we had no issues communicating in English. If we ever return, we would most likely stay here again.

Modern boutique hotel offering good value
Staff were very pleasant and helpful, particularly Gabriel at the front desk. Hotel is new, bright, clean and modern. Didn't use the restaurant or bar facilities so can't comment on those. Rooftop pool area is small but attractive. Pool is tiny and unheated but while we were there the weather wasn't hot so did not go in. The square outside is noisy at night but if you close your windows you will not be bothered by it. The only downside is that there is only one chair in the room so if there is more than one person they have to sit on the bed. It's good value in a charming if somewhat bohemian neighbourhood filled with bars, tapas bars, restaurants and shops.
