Lovely old coaching inn type place with accommodation in a separate wing, possibly an old barn. Genuinely warm welcome, great size room and modern en suite bathroom. Plenty of parking, and beautifully fresh breakfast where you could taste the quality of local produce. Nice to see real fires blazing in the evening. Plenty to explore on the doorstep and around 40 minute walk along the coast to Morecambe.

We enjoyed a great one-night stay at The Royal whilst attending an event in Lancaster. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful on arrival. We had a drink in the bar and a sharing platter in the afternoon before heading out. The room was clean and the the facilities very good - toiletries, coffee machine, fresh milk. Cooked breakfast the following was faultless and better than some I've had in far more expensive hotels. Once again the staff were very attentive. I'd definitely come back.

Enjoyed a one night stopover in this little gem. From the minute we entered the property, staff made us feel welcome & were helpful & friendly. Our room was spacious , comfortable & clean with plenty sundries - toiletries & tea/ coffee/biscuits etc. Fresh milk was supplied in a small steel flask - a very welcome change from the usual plastic containers of longlife stuff. We had an excellent evening meal & the inclusive breakfast was equally good & well prepared. All in all a great stay.

WOW! Fresh milk in the room for teas and coffee. I would highly recommend The Royal. We arrived late on a Sunday and the hotel kept the kitchen open for us to have an evening meal. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was superb, one of the best steaks I have ever eaten. The breakfast was just as delicious. If we could have stayed an extra night, we would have.

We are a family of three who spent two nights in the family room. It was spotless, comfortable, very well presented with good facilities. We had an issue on our first night but the staff did their best to deal with it. Fortunately this was resolved. Breakfast was great, excellent quality and a good selection. We will definitely stay here again.
