Loved the Lalit...
Loved the Lalit...been keen to try it as I have a connection to the school which originally occupied the building. From the moment you check in you're made to feel special. The staff greet you with a welcoming "Namaskar" every time you see them. No check in counter here, instead tables with comfy chairs, as you would expect from a high end establishment. Without prompting, I was offered a glass of water by one of the team as I was checking in on a very hot day. A simple kindness means a lot, and differentiates great service from the merely good. The hotel itself is still new, so all the furnishings and décor are in pristine condition.Security seems to have been considered from the outset with key activate access to the corridors leading to your room. I had a senior classroom, which was spacious, and well appointed. Bathrooms were beautiful, and the beds comfortable. The free mini bar only included a small range of soft drinks and snacks, but again at this level it's a small touch that leaves a lasting impression. Free wguest wifi and plenty of easily accessible sockets including USB charge points for laptops and phones are what you would expect in a new property. I was able to work from my room on several days without issue. I'd have no qualms recommending the Lalit, and I'd happily stay there again.

Not working for me, for good reasons
My dissatisfaction is due to a couple of things. Firstly, when the wife and I decided to pick LaLit for our stay in London during the unusual summer heat, it was because of the outside area, the terrace, which was closed to guests in the morning after our arrival. We booked the hotel with one days’ notice so we should have gotten information about this nuisance then. Secondly the room we got, nr 5 was quite ok but the sound isolation from the corridors was horrible. There were guests arriving late (as one would expect) to their room and chatting away in the in the corridors and it felt as they were actually having their conversation next to our bed. One of them then decided to take a bath in a room next door and I had to go into our bathroom just to make sure our bath was not running. I tried to connect with the front desk immediately the next morning but it was impossible to reach a member of the staff. I guess everyone was busy hearing out other guest’s complaints. I then decided to send my complaint to the hotel through the “contact” option at their website but no one responded, nor have they ever done so.

Beautiful hotel, room for improvement in service
The LaLiT is a wonderful combination of new and old, east meets west. Reception staff were welcoming and friendly and the Senior classroom we had splashed out on did not disappoint. The room was spacious, clean and the furnishings beautiful. The mini bar was complimentary (soft drinks and snacks) and there was a coffee pod machine too. However there is room for improvement in service; ‘do not disturb’ sign are ignored as are ‘make up room’. Over our three night stay it became a bit of a joke “how long after you step into the shower before there was a knock at the door or phone rang?” There were no hand towels in the bathroom and bath mats came and went for no apparent reason. Also the bar disappointed us by calling last orders at 10:15pm on Friday evening. Not to mention the demands for payment before taking drinks outside, which considering we were residents was unnecessary and unwelcoming. We would consider going back as the hotel is so beautiful and the location is great, but we’ll hope the service kinks are worked out.

A business stay at the Lalite
The service and staff at the Lalit, were fantastic throughout the stay. Professional, attentive and polite is not too much to ask for but can often be hard to find. The room itself has lots of extras which are helpful on a business trip, from toiletries to shaving and sewing kits. The room itself was pleasant with a comfy bed and a well fitted out bathroom. In terms of food, the restaurant has an Indian theme, which is a great if you like Indian, as do I but can be limiting if this is not the case. I had the venison, which was undercooked and had gristle in it, although the staff were very happy to change this for me. I would happily stay at the Lalit again, a country manner feel within the heart of the city.

Great Hotel ! Even after the Check in slip ups !
At the start of the trip i was a little worried, when we arrived 2 people could not find our booking so it was a little embarrassing as i booked the hotel for a surprise a few months earlier and paid the full amount in advance. Then a manager (Duty) came over and checked the booking again and it was there (thank god).Turns out they had entered my name incorrectly. After that to be honest the staff are some of the friendliest i have come across and couldn't do enough for you, even to the point of making a birthday cake for my girlfriend on her birthday !! Now that is service !! over all the hotel is a fabulous place and great use of the space. We have stayed in a few top draw hotels and this is certainly up there with them. Great location in an up and coming regeneration location and only a 5 minute walk to tower bridge
