The rooms were clean and warm with tea/coffee facilities, towels, bathrooms close by. The staff were lovely and helped sort us 2 adjoining rooms with a bathroom close by as the family room with ensuite that Hotels.com sold to us dows not exist. sold to

10/10 Exceptional

This B&B is exceptional, full of character, spacious, clean, welcoming, run fantastically well by a lovely family - I highly recommend. The full English breakfast was exceptional and served by the granddaughter so lovingly and efficiently. Will be staying again every time in the Stockport area from now on. I want to live there permanently now !!!!

Wonderful stay

We had a family room, 3 adults and 2 children, at the last minute we had to bring the dog, Lorraine was very accommodating, we stayed for 2 nights and only got charged £10 extra for the dog, the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was lovely, would definitely stay here again. Excellent parking at the hotel.

Quite an old fashioned property but clean and tidy. As I was in the attic area the shower was difficult to control. Breakfast good and 2 eateries close by for evening meal

As a last resort it is OK. The ensuite is an all-in-one-cubicle in which you can't sit on the loo without the door open.

Good stay

Room was basic but comfortable. Room had tea/coffee making facilities and small TV. Small wardrobe and sink. My room didn't have a bathroom but two on landing. One with shower and one with bath/shower. Soap and towels provided. Good view with plenty of greenery piece and quiet. Tasty breakfast. Everything was nice and clean. Shared lounge to relax in with stereo and TV. Lots of pubs, cafes and restaurants nearby. Would stay again.

Adequate accommodation

The guesthouse was adequate for one night. The room was very large with a double & 2 single beds, clean but shabby and dated. The en-suite had a good walk in shower but the room was very narrow. Good quality toilet paper! Breakfast was ok, not much offered if you didn’t want a full English, but I’m more of a continental breakfast person. Seemed to be a lack of professionalism at reception, breakfast etc which along with the other criticisms wouldn’t make me rush back but it served the purpose for us, just wasn’t a memorable experience.

Money-grabbers

Asked to pay when I already had through Hotels.com, The landlady never cam back to me. She said it was room-only when my booking included breakfast. She showed very little warmth and no apology when I turned up to breakfast one morning with the place deserted - no breakfast for me then! The room was ok but for the high price should have included ensuite so very poor value - a bit of a rip-off. Won't return there!

4/10 Fair

Passable (just). Inexpensive. Old fixtures.

This guest house was of passable value. It was inexpensive, had good car parking, and was close to where we needed to be, but the facilities were showing their age. Staff were friendly (no fault on that front), and the welcome seemed genuinely warm. However the room and fixtures were basic and old (e.g. old door keys were fiddly, basic lighting, old TV, no fridge). Room layout was a bit awkward, and there was nowhere to place any of our suitcases, so they all had to just live on the floor. There was a musty smell from the carpeted en-suite bathroom (floor tiles would probably be a better choice). No towel racks. Curtains don’t allow you to completely black out the room (not a major problem for us, but could be a real problem for other families). Walls too thin / allow too much noise from neighbouring rooms. Breakfast only available from 8 (on Saturday), which was too early for us as we had to leave by 7:45 (which didn’t seem excessively early to miss breakfast). Breakfast (on the second day) was Ok, but nothing special. Again, staff were very friendly and helpful, but the product is a little sub-par.

4/10 Fair

The building is lovely, furnishings reflect the age of the property. Lots of clutter/ornaments everywhere. Very spacious rooms and very clean however the staff have no personable skills at all. I wrote a private email to hotel to notify them that they need to be mindful of talking loudly in the evenings as I was kept awake until late and that I found the staff resented me being there as they didn’t chat or smile at all and I felt unwelcome. I said I wrote a personal email so as not to publically complain but so they could improve their customer experience. I received a rude email back telling me I was grumpy and did nothing but complain all week, which was highly untrue. I even provided them with a loaf of sourdough bread as I don’t tolerate a lot of normal bread and didn’t want to expect them to provide it although they did offer to. Other guests said they call it faulty towers as they are so grumpy and have no people skills. I would not return here as the staff are grumpy and rude and have no consideration for the noise they make in the evenings/night and the fact that guests may be trying to sleep. If you park your car in the wrong place you are told to move it and” if you don’t know how to park ask.” I expect a rude reply on this review. If staff tried being friendly and keeping the noise down I would highly recommend this b and b for value for money. If I had not recieved such a rude reply to my personal email I would not be leaving a review on here.

Breakfast was excellent, the accommodation was dated and unkept. The stairs are very narrow and steep. The staff were quite indifferent and seemed to be occupied with other tasks. They ordered my taxi which was the best part of service.

I’d completely recommend this as a great place to stay. Friendly and very comfortable. Close to both the City and the countryside. I was there for 2 nights whilst hill walking.
