Great service from start to finish. Check-in, breakfast, the bar & check-out couldn't be faulted. Room had everything we needed and there was no external noise, it felt like we had the hotel floor to ourselves even though we didn't. Hotel was fairly busy but it never felt over-crowded or full

Frustrating internet connection.
There was no internet service for my iPhone 13. The manager, who called me rude, a remark that could be heard through the entire lobby, blamed my phone for the problem. But it worked perfectly at a nearby restaurant and another Holiday Inn Express in Bristol that I stayed in immediately after my departure. Manager absolutely refused to provide any compensation for my inconvenience.

Dirty carpet, blocked shower, broken bed
I usually stay at Park Regis down the road, so my opinion is pretty much based on my comparison to that. Service: Fine, not special but ok. The attendant was quite untidily dressed for a hotel host, but not a deal breaker for me at least Room: Dirty carpet, cheapish utilities (iron/kettle etc). Not a very nice view as there's a block of flats right in front, but I guess that can't be helped. I would have considered paying for a better view, but this wasn't offered. The bed was really cheap and tacky. The wooden beam underneath broke once my wife and I lied down on it and "got busy". We both found this highly amusing as first, but it completely ruined the mood of what was supposed to be a romantic moment! Bathroom: The cleanliness of the bathroom seemed ok at first. However, once I'd decided to take a shower after the embarrassing bed incident, my feet were met with brown, dirty water which quickly filled the base of the shower, which I found revolting! The shower was blocked with dirt, I'm assuming from the previous guests. We did complain to the staff who promptly housed in the room next door. However, considering it was my first (and probably last) visit to a Holiday Inn hotel, I would have expected some sort of good will gesture as an apology!? The 2 nights I was there I didn't get a good night's sleep, which is unusual for me as hotel beds are usually really comfortable. I guess you get what you pay for. I'll pay the extra £20 a night to stay elsewhere
