Poor 2.0
Misleading description, awful management
We arrived for our spa break having paid almost £200 for a room at a hotel and SPA. On check in we asked when we could access the spa and were told we did not have access (despite ringing ahead and booking £135 worth of treatments). boasts about the spa but makes no mention of this coming at an additional price or requiring booking. We had to pay £50 extra to use the spa for four hours or our spa weekend, and our room/treatment cost, was wasted. On check out the staff admitted they had checked and that it was misleading however they continued to charge us. We asked to speak to a manager who was arrogant, passive aggressive and smirked throughout our discussion, refusing to deduct anything off our bill despite their admission of false advertising on We also raised the loud music at the wedding and the lack of WiFi (a real issue when there’s no phone signal). However, I’ve never encountered someone so unwilling to apologise or offer any gesture - much more interest in taking money than guest satisfaction. The spa was amazing and the spa staff lovely so I would recommend a day spa with a stay at a different hotel that cares about guests and their reputation. We will be taking this incident further to get our money back.

Spa was fantastic. Hotel seems a bit dated

Poor 2.0
Absolute rip off. Room was £230 and the spa is extra 70 quid on top!!!!! The website does not make it clear at all that the spa isn’t included. You book Ladore Hotel and Spa and that’s it. Room itself is a tiny box room, probably not even 10 meters square. Shower rubbish. Bathroom really small. Wouldn’t come back

Fantastic place to stay
Great place to spend with the family and dogs. Staff very friendly and helpful, fantastic location with a wonderful spa. Very picturesque approach with the Christmas lights around the building and swimming outside in the very warm infinity pool made it a magical evening.

Birthday surprise
Took my wife as a surprise for her birthday, she loved it😁😁. Hotel is in a lovely location. We had a room with lake view, well worth it. All staff were very friendly and attentive. Very good Breakfast, and a great selection.

Dog’s dinner!
A last minute decision to stay for a night, but glad we did. Great location and lovely hotel, but the service is what stood out. Everybody went the extra mile to be sure you were having a great stay. We had the dog with us, but they set us up by the fire for our meals! Not had a six course meal with a dog before!

Good 6.0
The room rate was £250+. Room was very small and cramped. In the room next door was a large dog which was prone to barking and we were surprised how many dogs were in the hotel. No complaints re food. Very expensive for what there was. We had stayed before 25 years ago. Quite different now but location is superb.

Full-service hotel in a lovely location
The staff are very helpful, although policies are a little confusing: you don't need to sign for dinner if you eat at the Lake View Restaurant, but do if you eat at Mizu or the Lounge. There is another restaurant (and hotel) across the highway, which makes a nice change for dining or drinks if you're staying for a few days. Be aware there are lots of weddings on weekends, which sometimes puts public areas (the Conservatory, for one) off limits. But the guest rooms are comfortable (I was lucky enough to have a lake view) and the location is convenient for exploring the area by bus or boat. Although it wasn't convenient for dining elsewhere, at least without a car; the bus service ends too early for returning from dinner. And since the bus doesn't start terribly early in the morning, I wasn't able to join any morning tours starting in Keswick. I had a very good massage at the spa... but had to book a week in advance to get an appointment! It's very popular, so do book ahead. My biggest complaint is the wi-fi... the signal is very weak and intermittent, which made even surfing the net difficult. (There was also no phone signal on my mobile, which put me rather out of touch for the week.)
