Typical pub style accommodation
We had read the comments, so knew about the narrow entrance by car and about the worn room. In a way, this meant it could only be better than what we expected. We arrived and parked without any problem, check-in was quick, our room (family room) was quite big with a wash basin in the room and toilet/shower in a separate bathroom. We thought the room was OK, and although bathroom wasn´t particularly clean, we believe both cleanliness as state (single glazing, etc) are in line with what can be generally expected in pub style accommodation in UK. Wifi was good. Tariff includes full English breakfast which is good, but service was slow.

A few issues unfortunately
Very friendly welcome on arrival. Immediately had issues with the door key/lock to my room, coupled with the fact that the bathroom light didn’t work & the plug socket for the bedside table was nothing short of dangerous with exposed wires hanging out of the wall. Again, received good service by being promptly moved to another room. It was clean but a little shabby. This time there was only one plug socket supplying the whole room which was nowhere near the dresser where the mirror was so not sure how anyone was meant to see to dry/style their hair when getting ready?! On leaving there was nobody at reception and although I rang the bell 4 times (not sure if the bell was working either) the desk remained unattended so in the end I had no choice but to just leave my key on the front desk without formerly checking out otherwise I’d be late for the training course I was attending. A few too many problems for me to consider going back in the future I’m afraid.

It was ok
The stay was ok. Nothing to really write home about to be honest. It’s a good central location but this causes issues if your on the road side of the hotel like I was. Rooms are nothing to shout about could do with an update bathroom very strange think they just plonked in the corner and hope for the best. Breakfast was probably the best part of the stay. I would stay again but would ask for a different room.

Fair 4.0
The carpets and stairways and toilet facilities were dirty and required a clean . Awareness of outside environment - i.e. Road works and filtered traffic lights - directly out side of Hotel - causing traffic congestion and noise through out the night , placing customers in rooms directly affected by this .... No Double glazing to reduce noise level
