Disappointing 1 night stay
Had a lovely double room looking on to beach - beautiful sunset and sunrise. Didn't have evening meal there. Breakfast very disappointing, no saucer with cup, just a tea bag in it,very little milk for cereal and not any type of breakfast juice.Had cooked breakfast which was ok but only one slice toast, nobody asked if we wanted more tea or toast, in fact only spoke to take our order. Sorry but wouldn't book to stay here again

All the staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were very tasty. The whole experience was excellent and worth every penny of the price.

Locked out and no help available.
Everything was fine until the last night of our 3 night stay. Upon arriving back at our room at about 10.30pm we found that the door would not unlock. Presumably the lock was damaged and judging by the clean towels, coffee/tea supplies that were left outside the door this was discovered by housekeeping earlier in the day but nothing had been done about it. So here we are, Boxing day night, the restaurant /bar is all locked up (there is nobody on duty at the premises through the night) and we can't get into our room. Tried ringing the hotel number which forwarded to a mobile answerphone and left a message - twice!! I'm still awaiting a response. Fortunately we have family who live in the town who (using their local knowledge) was able to summon someone from another hotel to try and help us. He tried numerous times to open the door to no avail. He had offered us a room at his hotel but all of our possessions (along with the car keys) were in the locked room. In the end, a lot of banging and brute force finally made the lock submit and he managed to open the door for us. We mentioned it to the guy serving us breakfast the following morning but have had no management response to my telephone messages. What does one do if you cannot get access to your room and the building is deserted? Our next move would have been to phone the Police.

Poor 2.0
After getting the room key before work at 4pm. I returned to a freezing room at 2am. Hoping the heating would come on in the morning. When it did not come on. I questioned why. The owner was more interested in opening his mail than helping me. He was a awful rude man who would not listen to me. I asked why the pineapple juice was off (see pic) only to get not reply. Upon reporting this to Hotels.com there has no joy with the owner when they called him

Weekend trip away
This is a fine wee place for a night or two away. Had the single room with sea view, worth paying the few pounds extra for the view as it was lovely. Was looking directly at the rising sun in the morning and could see seals on the sandbanks from the room. The room was comfortable and looked freshly carpeted and decorated. It was also fairly quiet - unusual to get good soundproofing in hotels these days! Bar and restaurant downstairs were fairly busy so book in advance if you want a table there for dinner. All the staff I met were pleasant and helpful. The food was fine and freshly cooked (so may take a while, but they do say that). Breakfast was okay but have had better. Also at weekends they don't start serving breakfast until 8.30am which isn't ideal if you're looking for an early start. My only other request would be to put a decaf option and more milk portions on the teatray in the bedroom. Overall though it was good value for money and I would go back.

Nice Break
We stayed here for just one night in October. It was a really nice stay. Our room was at the top of some steep stairs but that was ok for us. Room was comfortable, clean & cosy with a beautiful view of the beach. Complimentary bottled water, tea , coffee and biscuits available in room. The addition of a chair in this room would be most welcome as there was nowhere to sit except the bed. The shower room was quite small but had everything we needed. We had dinner in the restaurant which is smart and contemporary. Menu was reasonably priced. Both our main courses were delicious... as was dessert. Special mention for the excellent fish pie!! Service was good and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. A cooked breakfast was included in our stay. The items of your choice were freshly cooked to order and were very tasty. Would definitely stay again.

Firth hotel, great views but noisy
On check in we were told we were being upgraded to a room with a king size bed with a sea view when that is what we booked in the first place. We spent the first night in room 9 and spent what was one of the most uncomfortable nights ever in any hotel due to the mattress which you could feel every spring and the sanitex flushing system which was very loud and which operated every time water was used in any room. We asked for a room change the next morning and the young man moved us to room 7 which still had the sanitex problem but at least the bed was better. The views are spectacular from the front facing rooms and the food was very nice although the breakfast although nice was limited.

Good place to stay
Really good value for the price we paid. Clean and comfortable and a good breakfast provided. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly owner/staff. The views of the beach are gorgeous.

Nice coastal hotel
Check in was straightforward - all done at the bar in the bistro type restaurant. Rooms are compact but nicely kitted out with tea/coffee, bottled water etc. all spotlessly clean. No views to the rear so ask for sea view if possible. More of a 'guest house' feel as there is no reception area or lounge, just bar/bistro and upstairs bedrooms but excellent value for money.
