The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. The view from the window was onto a water tank and we couldn’t open the blind or the window itself to get any fresh air or sunlight.

Stayed as we had our Christmas party here. The rooms are accessed via an outside stairway and I did wonder if I’d made a mistake in booking here. BUT... the room was amazing, really big with lots of nice touches like a rA real surprise and excellent value. . . Whilst this isn’t central, it is only a short walk to the main town centre.

Great setting but staff were unhelpful. Very small room rather claustrophobic. No milk for tea and when I asked for some the receptionist said they did not have any! Entrance to rooms is outside the building up a metal staircase which is awful and unsafe in wet weather. Ok for one night but I would not stay again

    1 night stay Jan 19

Stayed mid Jan in delux king size room. The room itself is large, immaculate and extremely homely as previously described. Excellent bed and soft furnishings, nice touches like the complimentary gin and single malt (bar closes at 11pm), bathroom was spotless, excellent shower. As previously mentioned, the access to the accommodation is scruffy (and a bit smelly) via an iron staircase by the kitchens. Our room was 1st right on entering the accommodation, unfortunately the entrance door has no soft close and banged loudly and another door below the staircase to the accommodation had been left open and clattered most of the wet and windy night! Nothing is too much trouble here, early check in, arranging cabs, finding a hairdryer (missing from room), staff are pleasant and friendly. Unfortunately due to the door banging noise, noise from extractor fans etc we had a very poor night’s sleep, otherwise this would have been an enjoyable stay. Just a couple of pointers to the management - move the fire pit away from the door so your guests don’t have to walk through plumes of smoke as they walk in. A soft close on the door to accommodation would prevent banging. Thank you for finding the cuff links we left in error so promptly,

    A Bel Stay

A nice place to spend an evening when in Reading. Unfortunately I didn't have time end or beginning of day to try their food, but the dining area had a nice feel and the staff were welcoming.
