The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Kyoto near the major tourist attractions. All in all, the staff was friendly and we had a comfortable stay.
However, two issues made our stay a bit unpleasant. First one is the room service. The hotel tries to increase its eco-friendliness by offering room service only twice a week instead of daily cleaning. On the other hand, they still provide new towels every day. At the same time, the cleaners are super annoying. They insisted on cleaning out room on the scheduled days although we told them several times that cleaning was not necessary. They kept pestering us, rang our room and even left a written message after we declined the cleaning. I really don't appreciate being harassed by cleaners on my holiday and feel like I'm forced to evacuate my room early in the morning just so they can clean. For me, being on holiday ,means being able to sleep in and do things at my own pace and I wish the hotel staff would respect the guest's wish.
The second major issue was the dust. The whole room was dusty and large flake of dust were flying through the air. I assume that the air condition was not cleaned properly in a long time, so whenever we used the aircondition, more dust would get into the room. Both me and my partner have an allergy so after sleeping a few nights in the dusty room, it started to become quite unpleasant.
Otherwise, the hotel was reasonably clean and comfortable and the receptionists were helpful.
