Beautiful room !! Sadly though we couldnt eat at the restaurant for our evening meal ( or anywhere else in Winchester sadly )! Nice location right opposite the cathedral

Excellent overnight stay
The hotel and bar/restaurant were very clean and we were very happy with the room that we had, it was huge and had everything in it that we required. We were surprised to find that the shower had really good water pressure and loads of hot water available. Yes the room was above the pub courtyard therefore you heard noise from there but we closed the shutters and pulled the curtains and we didn't need the ear plugs that were provided. We had dinner in the pub as well and it was very good quality pub food. Breakfast was also excellent, the only negative point was that the cooked breakfast was not that warm when it was served. Otherwise an excellent stay and we will be returning.

Old Vine Nice Time
Felt at home and relaxed from first to last. Great hosts, location, drinks and breakfast was superb. Room had space, comfort, charm, cleanliness and, of course, the Old Vine outside the window for the view to the Cathedral. Parking worked out fine. Soft mattress not my preference. Preferred the Old Vine to Hotel du Vin.

The position next to the cathedral is useful and so pretty as it’s all lit up now . The rooms have their own character and are very spacious . Good food and friendly staff . Despite the Christmas market we had no trouble parking with the pass provided by the old vine . That’s our second stay in 3 months if you want a further recommendation .

Good 6.0
Very quirky and certainly not a corporate hotel, this is a great fun place to stay in Winchester very close to the cathedral. Aparantly they do have on street parking permits but there were no spaces in the road so I just found a public car park. Its an old building and there is certainly a lot of noise from people walking upstairs in the floor above. Took me a while to check in (at the bar) as it was so busy - seemed understaffed for a saturday in December. They charged me a lot so I would have expected better service, hire some more people at busy times guys!

Great property, amazing location, but with caveats
Had a very enjoyable stay at The Old Vine. As instructed, we arrived at the rear of the property at Check In and I collected the very helpful laminated parking permit (with very clear parking instructions and a map - much appreciated!) Check in was via the bar (which was a bit crowded - Saturday afternoon) but we were shown to our very comfortable room by a friendly member of staff. The room itself was large, with a king sized 'sley bed', and other heavy wooden furniture. The bathroom was a good size, although no bath. The pub itself is fantastic, with excellent beers and wines on offer (not to mention the fantastic sausage rolls you can get as a snack). But it's the location that makes the property - you are right in the heart of the (small) city and directly opposite the cathedral. If you have one day in Winchester, this is the place to stay! The breakfast was hearty, big and delicious. It must be noted, however, that as the pub is very old, there is virtually no sound-proofing. During the day, you could pretty much make out individual conversations in the bar below. This is probably why you can find packs of ear plugs in the bathroom when you check in! That being said, we returned after last orders, and the hotel was silent. Other slight grip - breakfast is only available until 0930, which on a Sunday morning seems a tad unfair. In conclusion, I would recommend the Old Vine, but with caveats.
