Honesty at Tru by Hilton!!!!
We stayed at this Tru twice on our road trip, Meridian is our 1/2 way point. First, let me say...the staff is very friendly and very helpful. Hotel is very clean and comfortable. (pool table in common area) Even though this is a pet friendly hotel, there is no way to tell unless you actually see the pets. No "over kill" cleaning product smell. Breakfast buffet is typical but good as they use "real" eggs. The coffee, wonderful!!!! Probably the best I've had at a hotel at this price point. Would I recommend this hotel, absolutely (even before I tell you what happened). On our return trip home we stayed at Tru for the second time..typically arrive at dinner and back on the road by 8am. We were 2 hours into our drive home and I received a phone call from Stephanie at the front desk. My husband had left his iphone behind and when the room was being cleaned the attendant turned it in. She gave me options for the return mailing and posted it that day. We received it just a couple days after our arrival. Love this!!!!! Customer service is alive and well at Tru by Hilton in Meridian, MS. Thank you Tru!!!!!

Refreshing Change from a Standard Hotel
The staff was extremely kind, courteous, and helpful. The lobby was very different from a normal hotel. There was a billiard table, a game section for children, exercise room, and well stocked convenience store. The wine and beer selection was impressive. The rooms had tile floors and massive bathrooms with very large showers. The design was simple and bright. My fiance and I had a truly restful night as the beds were incredibly comfortable. Now, my few complaints: 1. Most Hilton brand hotels I've stayed at, that had a free breakfast, included proteins like scrambled eggs, bacon, or sausage. This hotel only had the old "continental breakfast". A whole lot of carbs (bagels, donuts, cereal, etc.) 2. The insulation between floors was minimal. Get a room on the top floor unless you want to hear the movement of everyone upstairs. 3. Light switches. There were no light switches or lamps on the left side of the bed. Such that, when I went to the restroom at night, I had to use my phone, or have my fiance wake up and turn on a lamp. 4......and this is the big one....No coffee pot in the room...You had to go to the lobby to get your cup of joe...this upset my fiance greatly as she drinks about 4 cups each morning. So yeah, it was great. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. It was $90 per night when I booked my trip.

Large Spider
There was the largest spider I have ever seen inside a hotel in my first room. I killed it and showed to the front desk clerk and she was very nice and moved me to another room and gave me a beer. I spent several minuets inspecting for more spiders and that showed me the new room was not as clean as it should be. The room is very modern but not a lot of furniture, with a large easy to use TV. Nice sheets but the mattress sits in a shallow box and your legs scrape the wood sides getting in and out of the bed. The room door is the new style that close hard so you can not leave open and the night I stayed there were 50 plus kids going to a softball tournament and I could hear them slam doors all night. The lobby is very nice with a pool table and other activities. It is in a good area with all types of restaurants

Very good 8.0
Not my preference, but could have been worse!
Nice new hotel. Found hairs throughout (in bed linens and towels) that were not ours! Hotel setup must be geared towards millennials! Bed was not very comfortable. Breakfast was mediocre as are most continental breakfasts at hotels! Everything seemed to be more geared towards efficiency than for the comfort and convenience of the guests. (No coffee maker in the rooms, no individual soaps/ conditioners, all in bulk bottles, which I am sure is cheaper for the hotel, tile flooring throughout.) my kids kept banging their shins on the wood surround under the mattress, as it sticks out considerably. Shower door is heavy glass and was good for smashing little fingers. Not the worst experience, but will not be staying there again. Other reviewers seemed to really enjoy it. Best part of our stay was the location. Plenty of restaurants/ shopping very close. Nice Bonita Lakes Park across the road!

New hotel in Meridian
A new hotel in Meridian. Very different style hotel. I would describe as hipster. No pool but a pool table. Generally I liked this hotel but it was too noisy. The hotel has a gathering place - an outdoor fire pit & table as a part of the hotel. They were still going strong at 1:30 in the morning and just too noise to sleep. If getting a good night sleep is on your agenda then pray for rain, get a room facing the front of the hotel or bring earplugs. All said I may give this hotel one more try (and get a room away from the fire pit). Free breakfast, popcorn and games in the lobby. Large TV in the room. Service was great. Just the built-in noise area that they don't shut down at a reasonable hour.
