Good base in the city - close to most attractions
The senora on the front desk that Sunday morning was very helpful and accommodating (speaks good English if you don't know Spanish). We were helped store our heavy luggage prior to our check-in later in the day. The room given us was large and airy (so it was so easy to arrange our 2 large suitcases on the Pergo-like floors) for the and airy with 2 smaller beds pushed together to make a single queen bed. The sheets were clean as was the entire room. The bathroom was OK & clean with good hot & cold water pressure although the shower head with hose has no sliding height adjustment (fixed height) & is inconvenient for someone small. A safe is provided under the small closet. There's a coffee machine near the front desk but it's 1 Euro per but an electric kettle was provided in the room - just make sure you bring some "instant-stuff" that needs hot water - noodles, coffee, tea, etc. - if you're on a tight budget. To save power during the winter, most hotels in Barcelona including this (same with the first one we stayed in near Sagrada Familia) have their air-cons' ability to cool a room turned off --it's just the fans that's working. We were assigned a room with a small balcony and had ample views of the Gran Via below and we did some people watching while having our drinks. Many hotels to choose from when booking a place in Barcelona, but I'll have this place on top on my list.

Hesitant but nicely surprised
Was a little hesitant to stay at a Hostel but was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received upon check-in and the super friendly and helpful staff (available 24 hours/day). It's located in a great location in barcelona - walking distance to most things. Metro or MyTaxi for the rest. Our room had one queen bed and it's own private bathroom with a spacious shower (no Tub). It had a small desk for my computer and a balcony with a table and two chairs and a lounge chair with Umbrella for shading during the hot part of the day. The room sparkling clean and modern. The breakfast served in the room for 4 Euros was basic (Croissant, Toast, Coffee, Juice) but always prompt and tasty. And there are usually free fresh pastries in the lobby in the morning. They provide fresh towels and room cleaning daily. It's on the second floor and there is an elevator which we used only when we had heavy luggage. Wifi, heating, cooling, hot water - all worked perfectly.

Great location but some improvements needed
The hostal is in an excellent location, 15 mins walk from Las Ramblas and 2 mins walk from the airport bus drop off point. Beds are comfortable and all reception staff friendly. We bought our bus tour tickets at reception which was slightly cheaper. Some negatives; we'd booked a twin and were given a double - the beds were changed on the second night. The room smelled of stale smoke and just after we got there we had the door open while the receptionist checked for a twin and we were accused of smoking. We had a 1pm check out as a perk (confirmed on arrival) but the receptionist knocked at 11.40 to check why we were still there. She apologised but after a very late night we'd have preferred the sleep! These were fairly minor points and I'd still say stay there.

Overall nice place
I want to start off by saying this hotel is part of a larger building and the entrance is a little difficult to find from the street. Once we arrived we were greeted by a nice person at the front desk who showed us to our room (the entire place is very small). We were nervous at first that our room would be noisy but it ended up being very quiet. The room was great for the price and the cleaning lady did a wonderful job every day with cleaning our room. The only thing I wasn’t completely satisfied with was one of the front desk staff members, it might have been a language barrier but she was pretty rude every time we asked for help.

We were a bit worried about Hostals but this place was very pleasing. You have your own bathroom, another bed for a 3rd traveler. The beds were a little rough but nevertheless doesn’t stop you from enjoying a good nights rest after a long walking day. The bathroom was the right size for what you need and you always have clean towels and made beds. The staff is there 24 hrs for what you need and the hotel is very secure with a door down stairs they give you a key to and a code in case you come back at late hours of the night. Will definitely recommend this place if you need a hotel in Barcelona.
