Good
Small hotel, with small rooms and partly outdated compared to common modern standards. Keep that in mind, and you’ll find yourself in a clean room with basic facilities available, a complimentary breakfast (I didn’t get to try because it’s only served till 9am), on a great location and friendly staff. It’s an old building, like all buildings in the vicinity, so expect to hear lots of whatever is happening around you and your room. This wasn’t a problem for me though, since Sussex Garden isn’t a street with lots of heavy traffic. Also the interior is quite old and in some ways could use an upgrade to modern standards, but it’s pretty clean and you might also appreciate the somewhat aged typically English layout and decoration. The only complaint I really had that few would disagree with, is the fact that the beds are just too small for even people of average length; I’m 1.85m and my feet were literally sticking out at the end, that’s just uncomfortable. After checking in Expedia asked for firs impressions, in which I expressed sentiments similar to the above. Then, checking out, a member of staff mentioned he saw the review/rating I had given, and asked in detail what could be done to improve, as well as point out the limitations of the building as far as room size is concerned. Made me feel like they actually care about feedback and customer happiness. In short, this is not a -great- hotel, but for most people it’ll be fine, if expectations aren’t too high. Fair value.

Not Perfect but Satisfied
As a solo traveller staying for 4 nights I just needed something budget and basic but with an en-suite. Having read numerous reviews I knew to expect no lifts or tea/coffee facilities in the room. I was on the top floor and as I'm able bodied this wasn't an issue, if you had mobility issues this isn't the hotel for you. The guy on Reception was friendly enough and though small, my single room was clean, as was my bathroom. The bed was comfortable enough and I slept well. Checking in and out was easy enough and the building easy to locate, and close enough to Paddington Station as well as not too bad walking distance from most Attractions. I understand that it isn't something they do, but I do believe that investing in some Tea facilities will just be a decent final touch to the rooms, then it would be everything a visitor needs for a cheap but comfy stay - plenty of fast food nearby so was no issue bringing a meal home at the end of the night. Overall, it was a perfectly reasonable hotel for my needs and would happily consider staying again when I visit around this time next year on my annual London visit.

Very good
ok for one night
We stayed for one night before our flight. There was black mold growing in the shower and the room was very small. No air conditioning and there was one outlet in the room that we could find so you had to choose to charge your electronics or use the fan. It was fine for one night, and breakfast was quaint.

Fair
Small breakfast area. The room was very noicy, we were bothered by people passing in the corridor outside, Very small TV. The Wifi was working 50% of the time, in bursts of a few minutes, then you got diconnected again.. The room was quite cheap, but I guess youy get what you pay for. Location of the hotel was however really good.

Very good
The hotel staff were friendly and nice. But the room area for my family of 3 was just too small e.g. not even sufficient space for placing our luggages. The breakfast room is home like, though the variety of food is limited. Worst still, there is no lift available and guests have to carry the heavy luggages for a few floors to the room.
