Superb stay
Check in was very welcoming and informative,, room was very spacious and comfortable with excellent facility’s and very clean breakfast was good with a varied choice and you could also help yourself to bottled water and bottled juice drinks also fruit, biscuits and sweets from the dining area at anytime during our stay The owners were very friendly and helpful Excellent positioning to walk in to city centre and for places nearby for an evening meal and drink Would definitely recommend the limes and if returning to Chester would check for vacancy’s before looking elsewhere

Great little place to stay
Great location for the city and the race course. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable but bathroom was dated and needs a makeover it wasn’t like the ones in the photos. Breakfast was continental style but there was plenty of choice. Would stay here again if we go to Chester again

Family Time
The trip was for a planned family get together. The hotel was ideally placed and offered easy access to the City Centre

Ideal for Hoole village, currently undergoing work
Host was lovely, friendly and helpful. The Limes is undergoing some decorative and functional transformations and has the potential to be a lovely hotel once complete, so I have borne that in mind for my review. The room we had was spacious as was the bathroom. However the beds were rock hard, and we barely slept, and the heating was sparodic ( but due to be replaced soon). We were offered a heater, but declined as we didn't think we'd need it. Breakfast was ok, but I think needs to be more organised, we ended up breakfasting half an hour later than requested as host had to go and buy milk. Several things were missing, like sugar. She was a lovely lady and very interesting to chat to, but I think needs some help here to get the Limes running efficiently and smoothly. It's hard on her to do everything. The shower above the bath was feeble and bizzarely placed against the long side of the bath, facing the shower glass, so if you turned it on it came right at you. No idea why the shower head isn't mounted at the end of the bath as is normal. We had difficulty reaching the cord to turn the shower on as it was well over 6 ft high off the ground and needed a chair to get to it. We came to the conclusion that workmen had turned it off to redecorate and not bothered to switch it back on. We would be interested to return once the Limes has been overhauled.

Friendly and convenient.
The Limes is an old building with a young management team who I imagine have taken it over recently and who are beginning to give it the TLC which any building of this age needs. The room was a bit on the small side but we were comfortable and warm. We had a good choice of cooked breakfast which was freshly prepared and delivered piping hot. Well done Susan! The Limes is very conveniently situated on a main bus route with frequent services to the city, (a few minutes away and probably walkable), and to the zoo, a journey of about twenty minutes. The post code entered into our satnav led us to the wrong address and it would be better to rely upon traditional methods of observation! Continue down Hoole Road towards Chester, pass a church and Vicarage road on your left, then look for a blue sign "The Limes" on your right. Turn right into the side street and the entrance is immediately right .
