4/10 Fair

Royal Goat is a Royal Pain
This hotel looked OK in the pictures, but reality was something different. The hotel has 'history', but that's all. I don't think it's been updated since the 1950's. On top of that, we booked months in advance - but when we arrived they said we hadn't paid and had to pay again. We have since confirmed payment, but I have been trying (unsuccessfully) for months to get a refund of the duplicate payment. Beddgelert is a nice place and I would have recommended their sister property Saracens Head instead - except that they have also been stone-walling us on our attemp to get a refund. At this point, I would recommend avoiding both properties to be safe. A real low spot in an otherwise wonderful trip to Wales.

10/10 Exceptional

Short stay with good value for money
Very friendly host and catering service, staff were helpful. Good value for money and nice location for Beddgelet hikes/sight seeing. However, don't expect complete luxury given the price, have reasonable expectations. Other than that, a brilliant stay.

2/10 Poor

Worst hotel
Very disappointing hotel, poor condition, not very clean, our room had cobwebs , asked for them to be removed but ignored. Water leaks in communal areas. Not enough staff. Would not recommend it. Definitely over priced. Stay somewhere else.

Fine if your stuck for options…
For most part clean room with comfortable beds, but the general condition of the hotel is very poor and dated, breakfast service slow and very disappointing food, terrible coffee! Therefore we felt overpriced. Great location, village is delightful.

Not the best...
In need of some serious refurbishment! The hotel is clean enough, but needs some money spent on it. Worn carpets, flaking paint, showers not working, windows that won't fully close. Not a great experience, especially for the prices charged. I aways try to support independent hotels, but this one was an own-goal. Never again. One positive - the poor guys running reception, the bar, acting as a waiter (on his own) was polite and welcoming.
