Unfortunately the restaurant Chose to only offer glasses of wine starting at $20 without even mentioning what brands they were serving. We ended up taking our group to a Nother restaurant nearby where we could reasonably have a few drinks and not break the company budget. We weren’t trying to be cheap, it just wasn’t reasonable for us to spend $20 a glass of wine w no happy hour. Luckily we found half-price seafood towers and $6.60 wine at Bobby Van‘s right around the corner. Nothing against the condition or service of the hotel, they just outpriced themselves In my opinion by having the cheapest glass of wine started $20.

A Healing Experience
I was in the D.C. area on a business trip and, instead of flying directly home and because the last meeting concluded on a Thursday, I decided to fly out Saturday instead of Friday like the rest of my colleagues. This left me with the option of either paying for the extra night at the Bethesda hotel my business meetings were, or find accommodations inside D.C., so I could be walking distance to off-site amenities. Admittedly, I booked the Eaton D.C. without knowing anything about the hotel prior to check-in—I saw the price, the rating, and the awesome-looking rooms on the Hotels.com app and booked. As I checked-in and became settled in the room, I found so many interesting and unique items in the room, such as the reading collection and the record player with records from Bob Marley & the Wailers, Peter Tosh, Isaac Hayes, and Level 42… LEVEL 42!!! I found solace in curling up with one of the books while listening to the soothing, signature crackle of vinyl-played music. Safe to say, my night spent in D.C. was spent in the room. It wasn’t a bad thing at all, having that space to decompress and unwind from a week-full of work-related meetings was exactly what I needed and I doubt if I could’ve found that kind of peace staying anywhere else. The next time I am in D.C., I will definitely stay at Eaton D.C. and explore more of what this place has to offer.

Amazing hotel with the right attitude
Have you ever had the kind of stay at a hotel where around every corner was a pleasant surprise, a cheerful interaction, a comfortable place to sit, and great food to eat? The Eaton DC was exactly that kind of experience for me on a recent two day business trip to Washington DC. The property, newly opened, is located conveniently at 12th & K NW, close to the Metro, the Capitol, and lots of good eating. From the minute you walk in, you can tell this is going to be a different experience. They bill themselves as a hotel for creatives and the feeling is distinctly tasteful, casual, and welcoming. The desk staff were outstanding, and without prompting moved me to a better room. The room itself, although on the smaller size, was excellently appointed with a great bed, large screen TV, good wireless, and a phonograph player and handful of records! The latter speaks to the modern, culturally aware approach the Eaton takes. I was even struck by the art on the walls outside the elevators, which were modern photos of scenes with progressive and open-minded messages. This is a welcoming hotel for all gender and personal identities. The hotel features an attached coffee shop and an incredible restaurant--American Son where I had a two wonderful meals. The restaurant deserves its own five star review. Bottom line, if you are tired of formula hotels that deliver only the same old, same old, treat yourself to the Eaton DC.

Exceptional
I love just about everything about the Eaton (this was my second time there) - staff is super friendly, rooms are comfortable, elegantly designed, and have record players with a good selection of vinyl to play, so the rooms feel more like home than nearly all hotels I’ve stayed in elsewhere. The three bars inside the hotel are cool - my local friends all knew about them, and we ended up dropping the speakeasy bar at the end of my night in town on my most recent stay. This is the only hotel I will stay in whenever I am DC and I’ve been recommending it to everybody’s. Only gripe I have is the gym, which clearly was an afterthought - a couple of treadmills, some free weights, and extremely limited space. Very disappointing given how well thought out the remainder of the hotel is.

new age feel
This hotel has only been open for six weeks. It is very clean and attractive. The decor is eccentric. It has a new-age feel. They give you energy rocks when you check in. The menu is different and they provide gluten-free, organic and vegan choices. The rooms have philosophical books, nice size TV, full mini-bar, a turntable with records, and soft lighting choices. They give you two keys so you can use one to power the room. They provide regular size shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles in the shower (as opposed to the little travel size bottles). Same with the hand soap at the sink. The staff is very friendly. A lot of the hallway art is politically charged with a liberal connotation. They also have an acupuncturist on staff. The breakfast I had was good, but I didn't enjoy the potato latkes.
