Good comfortable hotel
Stopped here for two nights. The cleanliness was excellent and bed comfy. The food was good in the hotel restaurant. My only issue was how hot the room was even without heating on. It was bearable by having both windows fully open without the curtains closed. We were in room 3 on the back of the hotel. I would go back with our dog but only if the dog friendly rooms were cooler.

Room with a view !!
The room allocated was not as described in your correspondence to me namely a twin room with a seating area. The staff arranged another room after we had unpacked and had to repack to move. I am 80 years old and do not need to carry luggage up four flights of stairs. The food, the staff, the service, was very good, room allocation not so. I'm not sure where the responsibility lies for such problems but sort it out, please.

Good but room for improvement
The hotel is in a beautiful location with gorgeous views. It would be very quiet but the people in the next room left their dog crying at 7.30 am whilst they went to breakfast. The cleanliness was of the highest standard though the decor was tired. Staff were exceptionally nice even though noticeably overworked. Booklet in bedroom not in sync with info at reception so confusing messages about mealtimes etc. When things were not satisfactory they were dealt with politely. Breakfast buffet was unexcitng & sparse if you didn’t want a cooked meal.

Beautiful Location.
The hotel retains a traditional charm but is clean and maintained . Unfortunately the hot water system overheated at midnight and was making a terrible nose , the night porter sorted it is about 20 mins , and I think this has happened previously so perhaps investment in this system would mitigate this happening again. Breakfast food was of good quality , however the bar food was not up to the higher standards that you can find in restaurants in and around Keswick. We spent most of the time outside and the area is beautiful with lots to do , the hotel is an ideal position to explore Derwentwater and Keswick.

Hotel looks on your website like it stands in its own grounds - in fact it is on the roadside. We ordered a Prestige room at additional cost based on the photographs supplied on your website. Unfortunately the room we were given bore no relation to your photos. The first room we were given was extremely small in comparison, when we complained we were given a slightly larger room but again no comparison to the room advertised - we wanted a NON dog friendly room as my wife is allergic to dog hair and were told that these were the only two PRESTIGE rooms that hadn't had dogs in them! Apart from feeling cheated by paying for a room we felt was not up to standard, we enjoyed the food and the staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were very thin on the ground - and in comparison to other hotels we have stayed in I feel it should have been rated as 3 star rather than 4 star. We have stayed at another Hotel in the Group e.g. Inn on the Lake, and also visited The Lodore Falls (just a couple of hundred yards down the road) - stay at either of these as they are far superior and have the facilities one would expect form a 4 star hotel. Wifi was good, but if you need a mobile phone signal forget this location as there was no signal for the seven days we stayed (tip use whatsapp or facetime).
