Exceptional 10.0
Great hotel right on the beach with good food!
Great hotel right on the beach with good food and good service. Hotel has some work being carried out but it did not affect my stay. Must stay here again and hopefully in the summer in the sunshine :-) No WIFI (there is but it is so slow!) and no mobile phone signal, not so good for work but nice and quiet.

What a place. The view was spectacular along with everything else.

Marsden glory
Probably the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The window open and the sound of the waves crashing all night. I will never forget it

Amazing location
Very relaxing break - the view of the sea was stunning. Breakfast was plentiful and the customer service excellent. No wi-fi in the bedroom but that's not really a problem

Fair 4.0
A bit of a disappointment
The Marsden Grotto is recently refurbished and on the website the rooms look amazing. The views are wonderful and if you need a breath of sea air, then it's worth the trek out here, but .... The room itself was very clean, but it could have been so much better. The bathroom was tiny. There was barely room to turn around in the quarter circle shower (low water pressure too). There was no heated towel rail or other heating in the bathroom. It was cold in there in the mornings. The towels were a bit mean - small bath towels rather than fluffy bath sheets. If you needed to do work, there was no wifi (though they are up front about this) and no phone signal either. Neither is there space on the dressing table/desk. In fact the mirror on the dressing table wasn't opposite the chair either, so I used the bathroom mirror. There was no full length mirror in the room. On the surface, it looks lovely, but I got the impression that the building work had been costly and that they'd made savings on the finish (plastic window linings, cheap and flimsy wardrobes and cupboards), which is a real shame as it has so much promise. There's also an issue with security. There are no staff on duty overnight. On the first night I was woken by two drunks sitting on the tables outside the front door with cans of lager at 5 am. They stayed there til 6.30: far from restful. If I'd been in a Premier Inn, I'd have got a refund for the night's disturbed sleep.
