Nice place once I got in
Lovely room and facilities but on arrival realised my room had been given to another couple so couldn’t get in initially and had to make calls from the hallway to work out what was going on (no receptionist). Eventually got through to someone who informed me I’d been moved to another room (joined to the kitchen on the ground floor- presumably why the other people had asked to move...) and she gave me the details to let myself in. Room was nice and clean and there was a good, well equipped communal kitchen. My room was right next to the kitchen so was woken up at 5.30am and again at 6.30 by people using it.

Room 1 (01)
First of all I should say that I hadn’t read the nature of the accommodation properly and did not realise that it wasn’t a small hotel. I had to stay unexpectedly in Oxford, and didn’t book anything till that evening. My main problem was the noise. I was in room number 1 which is right on the main road and there was considerable traffic noise. Room 1 is also next to the front door which beeps as each guest taps in the code and slams loudly as it closes. There is a communal kitchen, also close to room 1, which fellow guests were using at 345am. There was a large groups of young people staying together that clearly regarded the house as their own. On the plus side the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Shower was new, and towels and toiletries of good quality. I probably would have rated this place much higher if I had a room upstairs. My real gripe is that anyone choosing to stay here should be told about the real downsides to room 1, and then they can decide if they are able to tolerate the noise through the night.

Even if we stayed just for a night it was a lovely week end. We enjoyed the room and Oxford.

Fabulous
Botley Townhouse is modern, new, spotlessly clean and close to Oxford city. It took me 20 mins to walk to the city and even less to the train station however, buses into Oxford city are at your door. Very comfy beds and pillows, nice shared kitchen and easy email communication with owner who responds quickly. The waitrose is a few mins walk and has a cafe which does a great cheap breakfast. Would definitely stay again.

Not for business stays
This is basically an unstaffed set of rooms in a terraced house on a main road. Entry is by code for the front door and room door, and there appeared to be no way of locking the door from the inside, so anyone with the code could get in at any time. Woken in the night by another guest bouncing a ball in the corridor at 1.30am and turning all the lights on, with lit up my room like floodlights. Most importantly for me, no iron or ironing board provided (I needed iron a shirt for work) and no answer to my e-mail asking about them. The room itself was fine.

Great location
Botley townhouse is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The shared kitchen is a real bonus. Waitrose over the road offers a good breakfast or you can buy something to heat up in the kitchen. It's an easy walk into town or the train station or buses go past the door. This is my second stay and hope to retun next time I visit Oxford.

Much better in than out
Excellent responsiveness of hostess and absolutely immaculate inside - like a brand new home. The outside is a bit rundown though and initially worried me. If you can just get in and check it out though, it is worth it.
