Might be nice, when finished. For now, avoid.
They aren't ready to accept Hotels.com bookings. We tried to call in advance to warn them we'd be getting in late. They couldn't find out Hotels.com booking but said they'd leave a note. We called back, a few hours later, to make sure and this person told us, outright, they have no means of finding Hotels.com reservations. A third attempt got someone who needed to put us on hold for five minutes while she tried to track down how to access Hotels.com bookings. At check in, having Hotels.com handle room payment meant they couldn't work out how to use my card for incidentals. Check in took a full twenty minutes, from 12:45am to 1:05am, because they REALLY can't handle Hotels.com. They had to call tech support. They had to spend five minutes setting up a screen share. It was a total mess. You also can't get ANYWHERE in the hotel without using an RFID fob. Entering the elevators lobby from the parking garage, calling an elevator, choosing a floor, each takes an RFID card swipe. Then another set as those elevators just take you to the main lobby and you need to swipe some more to go up to your room. The app allows you to use your phone as a key card... if you didn't book with Hotels.com. You need to give it the email you registered with the hotel with. But hotels.com means you never gave them one. So no easy room access for Hotels.com customers. Basically, stay desperately away if you're a Hotels.com customer. They're not ready for you.

Poor 2.0
Our room was constantly making noises which made it very difficult to relax and sleep. The walls would make tapping and thump sounds while the windows would rattle. This could have been due to the guests in the neighboring rooms, but it was very annoying. Bathroom was also very small with not enough counter space. The half of a glass shower door allowed water on the floor and the sink faucet had a terrible low water flow. Staff could be more efficient. Check in staff should address waiting guests if they are not able to assist them. House keeping did not clean our room after our first night regardless of not having 'do not disturb' sign on the door. The staff at Oui were rude. I sat and waited for almost ten minutes before someone brought me a menu. All the while the bartender was in and out of the kitchen leaving the entire area unattended to and even sat himself at the bar. When I was finally ordering my food, the waiter was completely distracted by three women that came in while I was speaking. The same bartender who ignored me, brought those ladies water before they even sat down. I was very displeased by their behavior so I left without completing my order.

Exceptional 10.0
Nice new PDX Hotel
Nice, new, modern and clean hotel in a nice area in Downtown Portland. I ate breakfast at the restaurant in the lobby OuiBar & KTCHN and had the omelet. I will say I've had better breakfast food just about anywhere. The omelet had so much cheese in it and on top that there were puddles of grease on top of the omelet. I had to use napkins to soak some of it up. The menu said there was bacon and pickled onions on the inside of the omelet but again they were hard to find in there. The potatoes that came with it were nothing great. You could tell they were just pre-bagged square potatoes that were tossed in a fryer. The meal ended up being about $20 after adding a coffee and the tip in and for a $20 meal I expected better. But still the hotel is really nice. I was surprised to find out there is no business center or a way I could print something I needed. However I was able to email the PDF to the front desk and they were able to print it for me so that was nice. Bottom line if you're able to get a low rate I'd recommend staying here.

Very good 8.0
Good location, clean hotel.
Pretty cool "hip" hotel. It was very clean, and everything is new. We visited when PSU was not in regular session, so the neighborhood was pretty low key at the time too. And, there was ample street parking. I'm assuming when PSU is in session, you would have to park in their garage. There are old games on the 2nd floor for free for you, air hockey/etc. There is a bar/restaurant on the first floor, didn't try it because Portland is a foodie town and we had other restaurants on our necessary visit list, but that's convenient. Overall it worked out well. I REALLY appreciate the hotel room floors not being carpeted. We could hear our neighbors though (sometimes a symptom of concrete floors without enough insulation and thickness in the walls), but that could happen at any hotel. The front desk check-in couldn't be located in a more awkward position though. If there is a line to check in, it blocks the entrance. But, overall, I would stay here again if the price was right! You can walk to PSU and downtown, so not a bad location. If you are into long walks, you can even walk over the bridges to inner southeast. If you're visiting northeast Portland, expect to be in traffic at least an hour if you leave anywhere near rush hour though. The city becomes a gridlock during/around rush hour (rush hour in Portland is typically 3-7-ish).

Poor 2.0
Room looked unfinished, bare cement and columns in the room, storage was worst, a metal closet against a window, which made raisins and closing wi dow shades, very difficult, night tables were ridiculous small, the minimum furniture looked out of a garage sale, 2 chairs and a carpenter style table, cleaning lady left dirty wash clothes in the shower, which had no curtains, and allowed the wall and door to get wet. They tried to give a modern look to the place, but it is all cheap, the water only trickled in the lavatory and there was no surface to put anything in the bathroom, except for a 6 x 12 shelf, the sink had 1 inch border around, this is the worst hotel I have ever been in this country, to top it all, they charge $35/day to park, I would not recommend this place except to my worst enemy.
