Aqua Nightclub


Everybody’s welcome to dance ‘til the early hours at Key West’s prime gay club. Glitter and sequins are the name of the game here, especially when the Aquanette drag queens hit the floor. Grab a cocktail, check out the hilarious cabaret, and then strut your stuff on the dance floor.

Waterfront Playhouse


A not-for-profit professional theatre tucked down by the ocean, Waterfront Playhouse is an intimate 150-seat venue whose shows regularly sell out in advance. It draws on its local pool of actors, designers, and directors, with occasional appearances from national names. If you fancy catching a show here you’ll have to book in advance.

Had enough of boozing in buzzing bars? A trip to one of Key West’s cinemas might be the calming night out you’re in need of. If you’re looking to catch the latest blockbuster head to the modern multiscreen, while fans of arthouse offerings should check out the theater listed below.


Tropic Cinema


This retro-style movie mecca offers 3 screens showing various indie, avant-garde, and award-winning films. The Film Society behind the theatre is locally run, and came about after a group of local residents sought to widen Key West’s film scene. As well as a movie, you might also catch a literary event or festival at the cinema.
