Pollensa Hotels

Pollensa is a far cry from the bustling resorts, and tourist hotspots that are found elsewhere on Majorca. This peaceful, traditional mountain town lies at the roots of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. These impressive, snow dusted peaks provide the ideal playground for climbers and hikers, with the surrounding rolling hills home to numerous trails and walks. While Pollensa itself is located inland, Pollensa Port, along with its golden sanded beach, and the glittering Balearic coast, is 10 minutes away.

Things to see

The town of Pollensa is almost untouched by the modern age when it comes to architecture. Almost all the buildings here were built in the 17th or 18th century. Taking a walk through the narrow, winding medieval streets is a true pleasure, and you can always sit back and relax with a potent coffee, or refreshing Spanish beer in the cool, cobbled market square. The nearby lush hills and rocky slopes of the Serra de Tramuntana long to be explored, and you'll find plenty of beautiful, secluded hiking trails to follow. The adventurous can test their mettle against some of the challenging, rugged mountain slopes, or you can simply find a peaceful hill to enjoy a picnic. Of course, the balmy climate here lends itself well to a day lounging on the soft, bronze beach of Pollensa Port too, and you can take an afternoon stroll around the shimmering marina.

Hotels in Pollensa

Hotels in Pollensa are split between the Port and the town itself, and this means there's plenty of different types of accommodation on offer. If you're after luxury hotels, you'll find them in abundance in the Port, along with all the extras that any sun worshipper could ask for. There's crystal pools, and sun loungers galore, surrounded by swaying palm trees – the perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon. You'll also find relaxing steam tubs to simmer in, and invigorating spas. Pollensa hotels located in the town itself also offer similar luxuries, and you can also hire bicycles, too.

Where to stay

Families looking for a resort experience should consider staying near Avenue Paris in Port Pollensa, as this means you'll be moments away from the warm sands of the beach, and can enjoy all the extras at your accommodation. For Pollensa town, there's plenty of historic boutique hotels located near the town centre, so you can meander the cosy streets any time you like without straying too far from your digs. Hiking and climbing enthusiasts, or couples on a romantic retreat might prefer heading out of town to where the Ma-2200 meets the Torrent de Sitges, where you'll find secluded accommodation.

How to get to Pollensa

Pollensa is around 60 kilometres from Palma Airport. Once you've landed, you can either hire a car or hop in a taxi (this can be better if you don't want to drive – parking in Pollensa Town isn't great) to get you to your hotel. If you're staying in the Port area, then you may be able to catch a coach provided by your tour or travel agent to your hotel. Either way, travelling by road is the only option here. Once you're in Pollensa itself, you'll find you can easily walk everywhere, although many hotels offer handy bicycle hire services.
