Anglers find paradise in the gold medal waters of the Rio Grande, where trout practically line up to inspect your fly. The Rio Grande National Forest surrounds with hiking trails winding through aspen groves that shimmer like coins in the mountain breeze. After a day outdoors, soak aching muscles in natural hot springs that bubble up from the earth. Wolf Creek Anglers can outfit even complete novices with gear and local knowledge. Winter transforms this quiet town as powder-seekers discover what locals have always known about nearby slopes. The Coller State Wildlife Area offers quieter communion with nature, where patience rewards with sightings of elk moving like ghosts through meadows.
