    Nissi Avenue runs through the centre of Ayia Napa and is one of the busiest shopping streets in this resort town. This street is lined with fashion boutiques, jewellery stores and souvenir shops appealing to tourists. For a large variety of souvenirs, head to Plaza Shopping Center, located on Nissi Avenue. There are a number of souvenir and gift shops in the building selling funny T-shirts, embroidered shoes and quirky knick-knacks for tourists. The mannequins and movie character statues outside the shopping centre make for good photo-ops. There’s also a supermarket that stocks basic essentials for your stay in town.

    Taste of Life

    A cosy gift shop with local products

    You can’t miss Taste of Life as you walk down Nissi Avenue. This warmly lit giftshop exclusively sells Cypriot and Greek products manufactured in the region. There’s a variety of local specialities available here, like honey, wine, spices, olives, candied fruits and more. If you’re not sure about the wines, you can taste some of them before buying.

    The owner will also patiently tell you about the products if you have any questions. This underrated store is adored by visitors in the know for the excellent service provided by its owner, as well as standout products they won’t find in generic souvenir stores on the same street.

    Ayia Thekla Market

    A beachfront market for bargain hunters

    Located in the west of Ayia Napa, on Ayia Thekla Beach, Ayia Thekla Market is run by a crew of British expats. In the summer, there are about 50 stalls set up in this market with international and local vendors selling a wide range of goods. Tourists and expats come here for trinkets, books, second-hand household appliances and electronics at low prices, as well as imported fish, fresh fruits and veggies sourced from a local farm. House clearance and car boot sales can also be seen here, so it’s the best place to pick up a bargain.

    Come early to soak up the British market atmosphere and grab breakfast from the food stalls serving up British grub like scotch eggs, sausage rolls and pork pies.

    Makarios Avenue

    Archiepiskopou Makariou (Makarios Avenue) is a bustling shopping street in Ayia Napa where international stores and luxury boutiques are concentrated. You’ll see Calvin Klein, Ben Sherman and Lacoste stores among other designer boutiques here. But if you’re looking for local products, there are speciality stores here selling locally produced olive oil, handcrafted leather goods and souvenirs as well.

    Other traditional products that you’ll often stumble upon along Makarios Avenue include lace, rugs and ceramics. If you want to avoid the generic touristy souvenirs, this is where you should go to purchase some thoughtful handmade cultural items that make great gifts.

    Stathis Shopping Center

    An eclectic assortment of products at reasonable prices

    Stathis Shopping Center on Nissi Avenue stocks an array of souvenirs, food, alcohol and everyday essentials. Like most shops in town, this shopping centre is aimed at visitors looking for gifts and local products to take home.

    Besides a large selection of local wine, imported spirits, and local snacks, there are also handbags and Greek cosmetics for the ladies, and fun novelty gifts for kids and adults at fair prices.
