    Petchkasem Road is the main highway that runs through Khao Lak along the coast. Along a stretch of this road that forms the centre of Khao Lak, you can shop at a diverse range of local stores. There's a cluster of tailors near the Bang La On canal and Nang Thong Beach, along with plenty of local shops, restaurants, and hotels.

    Some of the top-rated tailors on Petchkasem Road include Khaolak Mark One Tailor, Mr Tailor Khao Lak and The Best Tailor, which stays open until way past sunset. Within walking distance of these tailors are the beach and restaurants such as Peterpan and The Eighth Room Café.

    Khao Lak’s most popular street food and night market

    At the Biang Niang Market, you can browse local goods such as clothes, beachwear, handicrafts and souvenirs displayed across hundreds of stalls. This popular market also has an excellent street food section, where you can fill up on seafood and meat skewers plus a range of Thai delicacies until 10 pm.

    While you’re here, we recommend checking out the produce section to see fruits and veggies that are native to Thailand. You’ll find the Bang Niang Market on Petchkasem Road, across the street from the International Tsunami Museum.

    T.T. Plaza is a shopping centre that occupies around 2,000 square metres, making it an ideal destination for a shopping spree during your stay in Khao Lak. At this market-like mall, you can buy clothing, beachwear, electronic devices, toys, cosmetics and much more, and you’re likely to appreciate the great value price tags.

    In front of T.T. Plaza, you can order food from the street food vendors that rustle up delicious treats in minutes. The mall is located within walking distance of Nang Thong Beach and its surrounding hotels. It stays open until 9 pm, though many stores may close their doors at around 8 pm.

    Khao Lak-Bang Niang Fresh Market

    Khao Lak’s best market for tropical fruit and veg

    At the Khao Lak-Bang Niang Fresh Market, otherwise known as the Khuk Khak Market, you can peruse stands of fresh produce that’s usually only found in the south of Thailand. As it’s mostly visited by locals, this market is an ideal place to get a glimpse into daily life. You can also order treats from the market’s street food stalls.

    After you’ve filled up on barbecued meat and seafood treats, we recommend trying a banana pancake and washing it down with a fresh sugarcane drink. For even more culinary adventures, you’ll find tastier and just-as-affordable dishes just up the road at the Roumjai Market Khaolak, which opens every day.

    The Build Market is a popular night market in Khao Lak that attracts locals and visitors with its diverse array of street food options and increasing number of bars. You can also shop for goods that include beachwear, beach accessories, clothing and souvenirs. Expect a mix a traditional market stalls and modern container-style stores.

    The Build Market is open on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. On the days it closes, you can visit the Bang Niang Market just down the road. This top shopping destination welcomes guests from 1 pm, but it’s worth visiting in the evening to soak up the vibrant atmosphere.
