Extremely dated, not clean, good location.
The location is excellent and we had an absolutely gorgeous view. However, the rooms are incredibly dated and weren’t cleaned very well. Ours was quite dusty. For this reason, I couldn’t recommend this hotel. The rooms need to be completely refurbished.

Great location
Hotel had great location. Room was small and shower didn’t work but apart from that was ok.

Best location of the city and views
Great location and next to the Tram so I cannot complain. Hotel is a little tired in places, but staff are excellent and no complaints.

Enjoying the Mercury Hotel at Edinburgh City Centr
Enjoy the friendly people at the reception. I thanks the young lady who made my check in for her attention and service. I was given a room at the sixth floor with nice view of a section of prince street and of the city centre. A suggestion may help, would be, to hoover more often the rooms carpets, to avoid accumulation of duste and other residuos of previous customers...

location, location,location
This is a reasonably priced hotel with no frills, it is comfortable, the staff are great but the location makes it a gem. The hotel is near the Scott monument, the view from the dining room takes in the castle, the Scott monument and the buildings over beside the Royal Mile. Only a short walk away is Rose Street, The Dome (bar, tearoom + Venue), it is 5 minutes away from Waverly train station and is right next to bus and tram services. For those in the mood a walk over Bridge Street takes you to the Royal Mile and the route passes St Giles cathedral and leads to the Castle.

Great Location
It’s in a prime position for walking about the city and on all the bus, tram and train routes. However, the hotel is looking a bit tired once you are away from the public spaces. The staff are lovely though, and can’t do enough to help. The breakfasts are indifferent.

Lovely hotel and location
Fantastic location, very central for being able to walk around city centre and old town. Room was very comfortable but not as modern as the pictures on the website portrayed it to be. Food was lovely and staff friendly. fantastic views of the castle and Princes street gardens from our room.

Room was very disappointing, very tired and dated. Required a double but was given a dounle and a single taking up too muck room. I did ask for an upgrade which i wild have paid for but was told nothing was available. Carpet was very stained with mould and mildew round the window which we could not open. Tbe room was terrinly stuffy. Bathroom was very grubby with far too much black mould around the the bath and over head shower. Certainly not worth £133 per night. The common areas of the hotel were much better. Breakfast buffet was very good and the breakfast staff were lovely and helpful. Hotel was directly across from the Christmas markets hence the reason for choosing this hotel. Sadly the travel lodge behind the hotel would have been better cleanliness wise.
