Large room in great period hotel. Terrible check-in with a strict 3pm start resulting in long queues. Bed was not level to the floor and wall had prominent hand marks. Bathroom was good and clean. No lift and a good three floor stair experience. Good location for city centre

The check-in process was very long winded. No computerised system, hand writing down the hotels.com itinerary reference and taking too long to confirm the booking. Although not an issue for us, the elevator was out of service so the stairs were the only way up to the rooms. Overall the room was comfortable if a little dated. The staff were friendly and welcoming but it would be nice to have an early check-in option, even for an additional charge.

Have to pay for parking now which isn’t secure.

As I entered the room all the windows were open (it was a freezing october night). The table was pushed up against the sofa (which looked as if the legs were to give way at any mo). The bathroom was big, but had poor lighting and lacked surface space... the elevator was out and the staff could learn a bit more about costumer aervice.

The lift was out of action and it would seem that it had been for some time. Whilst I have no problem using the stairs (as I prefer the exercise) this would have caused a major problem for some of my friends whom normally would have stayed as well.
Also, no mention of this was made when booking.

Lift wasn’t working, the room smelt of smoke like someone had been smoking in the room. The room was freezing as the radiator was working we had get a little portable heater which only did a little. Definitely not worth the money

A wonderful building with so much to offer, but it fell short. For £80 I'm not surprised, but why not charge a little more and offer a better experience?
They offered a 2pm check in but wouldn't allow us to check in before 3. It appeared that multiple other guests were experiencing the same.
Room was clean although the bath panel was half hanging off.
The lady looking after the bar was under 18 so couldn't serve us any alcohol.
