I loved everything from the time i stepped into the hotel, 5* star treatment, the entire duration of my stay to check out. Service was impeccable in extending my stay, accommodating me through my stay. The room was clean, smelled nice and very spacious.

Nice Hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is located close to the Mall. Apartments are cleaned daily. Unita are a little noisy due to traffic. Hotel lacks the sea view.

This is by far a 5 star . The mngt. Staff in ever aspect are phenomenal. The place is super clean. The best shower. Service is exceptional 24/7. I arrived at 23:30 to great customer service. This is my favorite hotel. They meet every tick. I wish other hotels would be so customer focused. Well done Protea Fire and Ice gateway you are 5 star for me. Value for money and the best location with secure parking.

Best Staff I've ever encountered!
I do a fair amount of travel - I truly think this property has the warmest & most hospitable staff I've ever met... Truly, each & every person I saw, passed, talked to, made an inquiry with, each was so wonderful - it really added to my experience. Being across from the Mall was great - I was able to pop over there for a mani/pedi, as well as for items at the pharmacy & grocery. Easy to Uber from there to anywhere. Felt safe & taken care of, which is always a extra important to me since I travel solo. The bar was great - fabulous bartenders & bar managers - & there was always great music playing, whether over sound system, live performers, or DJ. I could not have made a better selection for my stay in Durban!

Average stay
Our stay was fine and the rooms clean, check in staff were good and so were the cleaning staff. Unfortunately the breakfast let us down, the breakfast was very average and bland. On Christmas day we arrived at breakfast at 9:30am and were turned away by the staff at the breakfast area who advised us that the breakfast time had changed but we were not given any notice when checking in or in our room. We felt very dissapoint especially on christmas day when we expected a lovely special breakfast with our family. They eventually let us in but they packed away the food as we dished our food and
we felt so badly treated and rushed. Not sure i would stay here again or book my staff here again.
