Absolutely loved our stay here in Dervio easily the best and cleanest place we stayed during our tour of Northern Italy. The B&B had a great authentic Italian feel to it, full of character and charm rather than feeling overly modern or generic. Location was perfect too, very easy to find, only a short walk from the train station, and then only a few minutes down to the waterfront and lake. Ideal base for exploring the area. We thought this was a little gem of a hotel, located in the quieter Como Resort of Belano. It was only a 10 min walk from the rail station and 15 min walk to the centre and ferry. Situated in a picturesque location on the lake, with beautiful views from the rooms. The accommodation was decorated to a very high standard, very comfortable bed. We loved our four-night stay at B&B Al Carotin. Julio is super friendly and always at hand. The property has balconies overlooking the valley and mountains, and it was so relaxing just to sit out on the balcony, drink in the views, and let your shoulders drop. We took a day trip to Tirano and took the train up to Switzerland, which is the same line as the Bernina Express. We had a couple of very enjoyable days by the lake. We'd love to come back.

This place is a hidden gem in a typical Italian setting 5 minutes walk from Vezio Castle in the hills above Varenna ferry port. Rita the host and Kirsty are the most helpful and friendliest people you could ever meet and absolutely nothing is too much trouble for them to do for you.
