Alongside its golden beaches and a small smattering of nearby attractions, Protaras is all about the simple pleasures. Dive into the water sports, indulge in Cypriot fare al fresco, or live it up on a coastal cruise.

Things to see

Fig Tree Bay Beach is the main stretch of sand, backed by many of the resort’s hotels, restaurants and bars. Named after the area’s centuries-old fig tree, the family-friendly beach lends itself to sunbathing, swimming and activities that range from jet skiing to water skiing. Stretching across the shore for several breezy picturesque kilometres is the Protaras Coastal Promenade. Perfect for a mid-morning meander or a sunset stroll, the lengthy walkway illuminates for enchanting evening walks too. A more tranquil alternative to Fig Tree Bay Beach is Konnos Bay Beach, situated between the resort and Cape Greco. Offering the same alluring mix of golden sand and aquamarine water, the secluded Blue Flag stretch is usually a little less crowded. Perched high on a hill 156 steps up, the quaint Church of Profitis Elias rewards those who make the ascent with godly views over the resort. Inside, the small building’s walls and ceilings are adorned with vibrant paintings.
